Re: Te Rona ...
I tried really hard to come up with an E that wasn't earthenware, as that's all my brain would give up. Best I can do at the moment is escallop - imagine layers of sliced potatoes in your dish in a lovely creamy cheese sauce with grated cheese on top - mmm! But seriously, I have no idea. The letters may be totally random.
I found this cup yesterday, I love the variations of swirl that Te Rona has.
I thought in the dim light it said #1C on the base, think c=cup, but it is #10, and we already have one, which is the same shape? Maybe it's a slightly different angle.

Is there much of a market for Te Rona?
Hello
I am in Australia and I have a set of Te Rona. I was wondering if there's a market for Te Rona pieces.
I have a very large serving dish with smaller ramekin style dishes. They are absolutely lovely. I can post photos.

Re: Te Rona ...
Sorry its taken so long to put these up.
Cleaning out a house takes a long time!!!
Here are the photos I've taken of the pieces. I'd like to know anything you can tell me about them.
I'm in Australia and I am thinking of selling them. Any idea of a price?
I do like them though, I was also thinking of convincing my sister to let me keep them hehe.
Large divided server
Base of server
Side of server
Ramekin
Not sure what these are? Serving bowls?

Re: Te Rona ...
Gosh I haven't seen anything like your pieces FadedJeans. I would like to add them to the Te Rona Gallery, but need you to translate the numbers etc on the base of each piece. How interesting to see another inscription on the base of the divided server Te Uma Kaha Te Wahi Poenamu !! You will have to do some research on Trade Me regarding value, but as I said, these are not your every day Te Rona.

Re: Te Rona ...
The letters and numbers on the base refer to the shape and the shape number.
I will have a go at working them out, please correct me if I'm wrong.
1. #1113/H/20
2. #W2 279
3. #1?1 743 [I can't work out the 2nd number at all]

The rootsweb piece on Lovatt—https://sites.rootsweb.com/~nzlscant/Lovatt.htm
—describes our gallery item Te Rona #17 Maori man mug—https://www.newzealandpottery.net/gallery/Te-Rona-Lovatts/te-rona-17-maori-man-mug-pic_8024.htm—as a spoon holder:
“Lidded casseroles, bowls and (very rare) spoon holders in the shape of a standing boy are known.” At least I don’t expect there to be two distinct items.
As a mug collector I have considered my collections inadequate for, among others, the lack of this problem piece, but the possibly that it is not a mug at all has given me some solice, which is not say that if one came my way I would not jump at it. My own ponderings on it were that it was, as described, a spoon holder, or alternatively a sugar bowl.
BTW the Te Rona gallery is great. I may have a few more pieces to add, perhaps next week if my recent experience of NZ Post is anything to go by. I’ll probably post on the commercial and studio pottery fb.
