Te Rona ...
This large pot is a fine example of a Te Rona decorative effect:
inscribed on the base:
Te Rona
Te Umu-kaha
Ao-tea-roa
#TCP4
Thanks Ev for working this out

coffee set(s)
This is the Te Rona Richard gave me:
Some of it has a glossy transparent glaze over the marbled slips that covers most of the outside and some has only a cm or so of gloss on the outside.
As well as the pot there are two-handled bowls, one with a lid, jugs, mugs and tapering unlidded bowls that may have been teaspoon holders?

Re: Te Rona ...
I don't have any Te Rona Tony......
One piece would be nice to have as a representation of the agate ware

Re: coffee set(s)
Ev, My plan is to keep, for the present, enough Te Rona for a complete coffee set and one of the Olive Jones mugs. You can have the rest. This would be three Olive Jones mugs, two Te Rona mugs, a jug (for reasons that escape me people call them "creamers" in the junk trade), a two handled bowl (sugar probably and with no lid), and the cylindrical tapered bowl (spoon holder?) in the middle foreground of the photo.
Each Olive Jones mug and more obviously the Te Rona are very different in appearance so you could buy every bit of Te Rona you ever see and never have two the same.
You can have for ever as much as will cover your costs for the Ambrico running glaze piece from TradeMe and perhaps anything left over could be used later as trade goods or to cover any costs that emerge from this forum.
I don't want to place any unreasonable demands on you but if you're happy to go ahead on this basis and have the storage space I could bundle it up and ship it over.
Please let me know what you want me to do. The stuff is only of sentimental value to me and this is qualitative not quantitative. Two weeks of handling 50 years of someone else's accumulated stuff has put me right off hoarding.

Te Rona little jug using marbled blue/white/brown slip decoration, something I have never seen before. It is clear glazed on the inside only and this shows off the colours beautifully. Perhaps an experiment?
The backstamp is impossible to read, but I can just make out Te Rona..

More Te Rona
On my latest visit to the South Island I acquired these pieces of Te Rona. Nothing as impressive as that casserole but interesting anyway.
This one has shiny glaze
This one is also shiny glaze. It's quite large, probably a utensil holder.
This one has a matt surface on the ouside, glazed on the inside.
Olus the mug I posted asking about Te Rona previously.

A Pair of Te Rona Cups or Mugs
For the sake of having something by Te Rona I bought a modest pair of mugs or cups.
Seeing as the glaze looks so fudgy I might use them for drinking a rich hot chocolate!
I have only photographed one. The glaze is unique to each piece.
Shiny glaze on this pair. No crazing. The inside is very wiggly, shiny but with shape.
H is 75mm, OD at lip is 77mm
Marked on base.
Is that "#40"?

Re: Te Rona ...
Yes I believe there was an old pottery that made marbled ware. Manos let me take a photo of a piece of his once. Was it from Wellington or the South Island? I will have to hunt it out of the woodwork to find out now .... well later on, as I'm off out the door now!
Re: Te Rona ...
Here you go Kat, though those pics are absolutely terrible!
I thought I had taken this photo, but it is one from Manos ....

An all-in-one Te Rona planter
My great op shop find today, an all-in-one Te Rona planter. See how deep the base is, I could go away for a week without worrying
The interior is a very shiny glaze almost all the way up, and there are 4 little holes for drainage (only small as if made with a nail)
and the base

Re: Te Rona ...
Ev it's lovely to see the Te Rona gallery thank you. I hope that one of their jugs comes my way sometime... I really like that shape and finish. I try to keep my nose out of TradeMe these days but hmmmmmm! Exceptions might be made.

Kat does your Te Rona jug have a number on the base?
My one the same shape is #51 and is 7.4mm high.
I think it will be better to number all of the ones that are known.
Re: Te Rona ...
Yes mine is #51 & same size.

Re: Te Rona ...
I think some of the codes may denote the article maybe, e.g. p/s pepper and salt, tcp tall coffee pot, sj storage jar ?
