Re: Kermiko Ti Toki Bottle, Orzel and Hobby Ceramics
I posted this wee fellow on NZ Commercial and Studio Pottery facebook page to see if l could confirm the maker.
The base is blank and the green is closer to that of the photo with the label.
Larry Hadley kindly replied with this information:
Hi there Anne, we manufactured Toki bottles for over five years for three different owners of that company. The volume on the earlier ones were 750ml . This was changes to 5ooml for two reasons, a cost saving and the fact that the weights and measurers department started having spot checks to ensure the volume inside matched the label. We checked the volume on every 10th bottle. The black painted eyes were changed from paua to black as a cost saving . The liquor was manufactured in a winery a block away from our factory in Henderson. There was a small domestic market, hence there are not many survived in NZ, until they started exporting to Japan. We were then manufacturing runs of 700 bottles a month. From memory in the mid 90"s. Hope that helps cheers Larry
