Here's a note on the pc from RQ:
"Re top left pix:
The black thingy on the left side of the women is a conveyor belt.
The pix is taken in the deco room. The deco kilns were at the back of the room."

Re: Crown Lynn postcard
I visited the Crown Lynn factory as a ten year old on a school trip.
Oh if I knew then what I do now!! My most vivid memory is the stamping of patterns (Blue Pacific I think) on dinnerware...

Re: Crown Lynn postcard
Could this photo have been taken when the Queen visited Crown Lynn? From memory about 1963 I think. The girls are a bit overdressed to be at work - that's what gave me the idea - cheers Alan

Re: Crown Lynn postcard
Hi Alan
It could be that or perhaps they knew the photographer was coming? There was a series of photos taken for Manufacturing in New Zealand in the early 50s and also the National Publicity Studios took photos at Crown Lynn some of which ended up years later in a issue of New Zealand Heritage.
The booklet put out for the Queen's visit has a map of the places she was to stop and who she was going to speak to so it may be possible to match up photo opportunities with the location of the postcard photos.

Re: Crown Lynn postcard
It may just be a coincidence but the 668 vase shown in the photo was on a sheet of numbers (Akl Museum) surrounded by pieces first manufactured in...1963

Re: Crown Lynn postcard
Does anyone know the name of the pattern of the blue dinnerset? That might further lock the photo in to 1963.

TANGO
Hi pretty sure thats the pattern name, the tango pattern was used in all 14 New Zealand Government tourist hotels-blue for the North island and burgundy for the South island. The cookware I have apear to be hand painted.

Re: Crown Lynn postcard
In the Auckland Museum today I saw a film of the Queen's visit to Crown Lynn and everyone was dressed to the nines including some very stylish hair-does. Looked more like a big night out than another day on the production line.

I am very happy to say that I have one of these postcards now
It was a steal at $4 and it was the Trader's Aunt who owned it and she worked at Crown Lynn all of those years ago

An advert in the Olympic Preview from Nov/Dec 1964 has the same Blue Tango cook and serve set photo as this postcard.
Re: Crown Lynn postcard
Looking at the postcard closely it looks like the front lady is working on a Regal Rose plate ..... I didn't know that Regal Rose was handpainted ...?
Perhaps it's just for the benefit of the photographer ?
