Ngaire Hart Estate Collection Auction announced
Monday, 6 April 2020
Cordy’s Auctions are privileged to be offering as a single vendor auction the Collections of the late Ngaire Hart. Ngaire’s enthusiasm for life extended across many fields; she was an antique dealer; her love of the natural world saw her partake in wide-ranging and adventurous world travel; she was a photographer of nature and ethnographic portraiture; a tramper and amateur botanist in the local environment; but whilst pursuing all those she also indulged an abiding passion for collecting. Her collecting encompassed New Zealand folk art, early colonial period pottery; specialist fields of Crown Lynn’s production; artefacts and ethnography from Maori and other cultures, studio art, textiles, fine art, walking sticks, etcetera.
Highlights include what we believe to be among the largest private collections of Jane Brenkley; a considerable specialist selection of Crown Lynn Wharetana Maori Art Pottery; one of the rarest pieces of NZ colonial majolica pottery – the Maori wahine figure sculpted by W. H. Barrett of the Wellington School of design for P. Hutson & Co.; and four of the desirable set of Sherwin & Cotton Maori portrait tiles. But Ngaire’s collection is wide-ranging as well as wonderfully rich with pieces ranging from Chester Nealie studio pottery to Tibetan thangkas; Len Castle pottery to Alan Taylor paintings; Pitcairn Island souvenirs to Giant Clam shells.
Ngaire worked at Cordy’s for some time, we knew her as a passionate collector until the end, we know she would be delighted to see her collections dispersed to fellow devotees.

Re: Ngaire Hart Estate Collection Auction announced
Oh Wow there are so many stunning pieces and they made my eyes fill with tears from the beauty of them.
Titian
Wharetana
Brenkley
Studio Pottery
To name a few .....
I would need at least $10,000 to fill up my heart, but I will come and hopefully get some of them if I am lucky !!
