This platter is quite large at 30 cm across. In my opinion the paint job is 'experimental' but since there is a stamp on the back, it was presumably made for sale. The base has that weird hollow lip which I understand is a sign that the mould is badly worn and should be replaced.  My thought is that this platter would have been made around 1990 when Terra was trying hard to move into colour ware, just before they sold the factory to Christine Harris and Malcolm Johnstone who established Studio Ceramics.  I have no idea who painted this, I have seen some hand-painted Terra which is quite professional looking.  I have been told that there was 'a Chinese girl' painting at Terra just before the sale. Interestingly, I showed this platter to three friends, who all thought it was great. So maybe I am being a bit pernickety about painting techniques.

I think it is glorious Val cheers
I've seen a few different designs on Trade Me and think that the painter is very talented.
