Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
I believe it is his mark Kat. I gave one to the Sallies with that mark when we moved house a couple of years ago as I didn't know who the potter was, then found out that it was Barry Ball's mark ..... I probably have photos somewhere though .....

This mark does not seem to be in the marks gallery?

It's in the Marks Gallery now thanks helpful kitty
Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
After six years of thinking about this, I have concluded that the first BB mark is that of Barry Ball and the last BB looking mark is by a female of unknown name and this will be put into the Mystery Marks Gallery.
Thanks to the Ferret for sending me the first mark and making me look at this again.

Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
Me thinks the top mark is Betty Block's mark
Betty being Michael Blocks partner
notice the base cut off with a wire with the groved lines
is much like Michael Block
and not like Barry Ball
the other marks are different

Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
Gosh we have many Michael Block marks, but no Betty Block marks other than stickers.
I can't find any marks in the Potter's Marks book for her either.
Do you have any work that you can attribute to her gloworm?
Many potters used a twisted steel wire for cutting off pots.
I will post pics tomorrow of pics from the Ferret that prompted me to say that the first mark was made by Barry Ball.

Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
Can do some photos tomorrow.
I have seen the betty block mark on bowls which are almost identical to Michael Block bowls
As with Suzanne Bloch-Jorgensen there are minor variations in colours and finish.

Is this Barry Ball's mark or Betty Block's?
Here are the photos that the Ferret sent to the site saying that the mark was that of Barry Ball that got me into action regarding this mark.
Unfortunately the Potter's Marks book doesn't show any surround for Barry Ball's BB mark and it doesn't show any mark for Betty Block.
Alas I can't identify the style for either of these BB pots as made by either potter.
I will contact Suzanne Bloch Jorgensen for confirmation one way or other.
I sorted out the other mystery BB mark into it's own topic and now I can't find the original BB post from Kat & Co gahhhhh

Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
Susanne Bloch-Jorgensen has sent these photos to her Mum Betty Block for her to check them out for us.
Is this mark Barry Ball's or Betty Blocks?
I researched this mark as best I could and it always pointed to an early mark of Barry Ball's.
The only mark I have seen of Betty Blocks is a sticker with Michael Block - I have never seen one with Betty by herself. I hope Susanne can come back with a positive from her mother - one way or another. Potters marks?!!!!
Cheers

Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
We are still waiting to hear back from Suzanne Bloch-Jorgensen to see what her Mum says about the mark.
Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
I emailed Barry Ball asking him if the jug and stamp were his.
He politely replied
"No problem. The pot and the mark are not mine. Nice pot though."
So we can eliminate him as the maker.

Re: Mystery BB mark not Barry Ball or Betty Block.
According to Betty Block she didn't make the little pot and Suzanne is sure that the jug in the first post is not her work either.
Betty's mark however is very similar to this BB mark and I have asked if we could add her mark to the site.
