What a pleasure it was to meet Harry's son and daughter in law today at Te Toi Uku.
They had Harry's notes and sketches from when he designed the Wharetana Ware Range. There is a lot more info and shapes to sort out and I will visit them to work this out in the near future.

The first photo of his work in the Wharetana style is a beautiful bowl and it is dated 6th February 1947, however some of the Wharetana notes could be from as early as 1945.

Harry started work at Crown Lynn in 1943 and his role was mostly as a modeller, but he could do anything required of him. He used a nail to create the fantastic Wharetana Ware designs!!

Te Toi Uku is having a display soon about Harry Hargreaves that will fill us in on his Crown Lynn story and it will be on for a few months.
