Tropic Ware 1967, 782/792 duos and 3020 cups
This is a follow up to Ev's posting of a ca1967 ad for Tropic Ware.
Their are other Tropic topics, and it may turn out that the other cup shapes replace these as Tropic.
Ev has determined from the dual pricing, in cents and shillings and pence that this ad is from around the time of decimal currency. The date for the 3020 cup says after October 1967 (11/10/67 for 3920). Crown Lynn started replacing the 782 coffee can shape from 1967 (with vitrified 3618, and earthenware 3022, 4/11/67, and 3023) so maybe this signals the proposed end of the 782/792 duos.
I will photograph what pieces of this range that I have but for the moment a recyled picture of coloured cups will have to suffice.

Re: Tropic Ware 1967, 782/792 duos and 3020 cups
As the advert shows this cup on a saucer, my guess is that the saucers matched the cup colours. Or did they sit on black Viking saucers?
What would you say Jeremy?
The dual pricing would have carried over to 1968 I reckon, as decimal currency was a huge change for the public.
In the Database there is an entry:
Tropic (New) 128 and I've never found if this relates to this ware or not.

I agree Ev.
Napoli has been spotted on green and brown saucers but either or both could have been part of the Tropic Ware range.
I'm may be overreaching to think the "matching beakers" might also suggest matching cans and saucers.
We know from the ad that lime cups are not part of this range. Mine were all on Form patterned saucers.
Can you identify the colour "Tangerine" for me please.
I'll have a search. No luck.

I don't have a colourglaze colour chart, but I would call it an orange colour.
Let me find a pattern that has Tangerine cups ...
Here we go ... Moonglow and the cups are a perfect match to the orange pattern.

I thought I had seen a comment on one of the fb sites about tangarine being yellow rather than orange so thought naybe one of the unnamed vit yellows.
An orange can would be amazing.

The first 3038s were 12/9/75, so the Tropic Ware range may have been in production, or lets say sold, for almost eight years, perhaps more, between publication of these two ads. That's a lot of cans and saucers.
Although obviously
I prefer the 782/792s, these trios are stunning.
The change in colours here allows for the possibility of other 782 colours after the initial release.

Are these the same shape Jeremy?
The orange one matches my Pumpkin Forma ware.

Re: Tropic Ware 1967, 782/792 duos and 3020 cups
This has now become the same topic as Janice's one:
https://www.newzealandpottery.net/t6649-tropic-coffee-cans-with-rimmed-saucers#26325
I guess that was before Auckland Museum freed up copyright.
We have 3038 round-handle coved-base earthenware cans with 4042 rimmed saucers. This pushed the date for shape change back to 15/11/76.
I have no idea of plate number.
I think it's great to have a name for these plain cans.

We still don't have this in the Patterns Gallery, so I will check out my rimmed saucers and side plates to see if any match these colours and shapes.
Janice hasn't popped into this thread, but I hope she may have some of this ware.
She did show a photo of her matching 3020 beakers on Facebook.
