Royce McGlashen
This pot spoke to me each time that I saw it in the Sallies shop.....
I'm beautifully made it said ...
You will know who made me ....
I touched it every time I saw it and would look at the mark and see an E with surround markings.
I ended up getting it as it was only $2 and thought I would find out who made it.
Thanks to a camera at our pottery group it showed up as r m ...
Who has those initials.... well Royce was the first name to come to mind.
Checked the Potters marks book and Wallah
This is just one of Royce's many marks...

I have one of these decanters plus some matching small tumblers. Nice with cherry brandy in it!

Helen's Handcrafts
Interesting label-I have (tucked away in the banana boxes) a small lidded shino glaze pot with the same label on the base & S.Howard written. The pot has no mark.Often wondered about the shop & potter.

Royce McGlashen
Hi ... I have been looking back at the pots attributed to Royce McGlashen in this column and there's one that I have reservations about. It's the bottle with the iron oxide leaves on it, tapered neck with a stopper with a label on the base that says "Helen's Handcrafts" (1 April) ... and an indication that the potter is "R Mc................". I can't see any letter in this handwritten name which would indicate the "g" of McGlashen (given that the name is written in lower-case) and, to my mind, the decorating is not Royce's. The signature could be "R Maclennan" ... or some derivative. Just thought I'd comment and see what others think............... Cheers
