C & D Borcovsky Rapaura Pottery. [Christine and Dax]
Val gave me this very well made mug at our meeting at hers last month.
There is no indication of maker.
After looking at a current trademe listing I believe the potter is C and D Borcovsky of Raupara Pottery in Marlborough. Information from elsewhere suggests C is for Colin.
All the Rapaura pottery I have seen appears to be marked with stickers only.
The simple spherical shape and banded decoration is so similar and the figurative drawing looks to me like the same hand at work. See:

I also looked at a piece on ebay and see that the base treatment is a match.

Unfortunately I don't have a sticker for the gallery.

Hmmm I don't see the similarities Jeremy.
The two vases match in every way, but the mug has a different finish on the base, and the clay is more speckled and the style doesn't match, to name a couple of differences.

That confirmation was a long time coming!
Thank you Colin Borcovsky.
I just started going through my hand thrown mugs yesterday. Many still unidentified. Many now forgotten. Must see if I can find this again.

I could only find one other Borcovsky item on the net. That gives me a ballpark for date.
