Paul Lorimer & John Madden @ Driving Creek Railway 2017
What a pleasure to meet these two lovely Gentlemen Potters at DCR!
My favourites Pottery & Old Bikes came together this weekend with the Indian MC annual rally visit to Coromandel & Driving Creek Railway.
Paul Lorimer left & John Madden on right..
Paul told me he resides in Japan but comes to NZ for a couple of months each year & has just finished a huge commission at DCR ( a concept sketch of Barry Brickells - a 3 part upright boiler shape with a gorgeous crown of leaves, decorated with many rock & glass inclusions ) Paul had just dismantled a wall from the wood kiln to get the huge top section out..I felt very priviledged to have been shown this behind-the-scenes..stunned I forgot to take pics.
John described himself as 'Builder' at DCR. He hasn't Potted for awhile & now Paints.
He showed me 2 big saltglazed pots Barry Brickell had bought from him.. they reside at DCR & are on left in this pic next to two of Paul Lorimers with circle decoration.
We all had a great ride on the Railway up to the Eyefull Tower to see the views.. & naturally I had to have something to take home!!
a woodfired salt glazed treasure of Paul's from the DCR shop.
My choice.. Yunomi (Japanese Teacup)
Paul Lorimers mark

Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful photos Kat.
