Many thanks to chef who sent these photos to the site showing a Crown Lynn advert about Harry Hargreaves.  It took me a while to work out that he is holding a swan.  I cannot work out what the piece at the bottom of the article is.  Can you?  This is probably from the 1950's or early 60's and was shown to chef by a descendent of Harry's.

Ev I've had a look at the pdf files I've got of this,they are a lot clearer and to me it looks like slip being poured into the base of the mold for the swan.

Wow thanks I see it now as the liquid flows from the top picture behind the words and down to the lower pic. 
chef are you saying that he is using the swan in his hands as a pourer?
I wonder if he is pouring glaze out of the top swan into a bowl.

Edits to add that he is holding tongs with his 2 hands and these are used when glazing.  It looks like the tongs are holding onto the wing on the other side of the swan.
