Shrek Like Casserole - Mark?
I bought this casserole simply for the handles and size...very useful. I cannot make out the mark, however, I think I have seen it on the forum before.

Re: Shrek Like Casserole - Mark?
Hi Mike
This is by a Hamilton potter who marked his pots ARG. He was very prolific. We knew his name once, but that memory has gone west. I do remember hearing that he is now no longer living in New Zealand.

Re: Shrek Like Casserole - Mark?
Hi Mike, this is the more common ARG mark that we see often. It's good to have another mark for them whoever they are and one day we will find out

Is this a clue
Looking through the marks book I found an entry for Aileen Grant, Hamilton. Her mark isn't on this site or the Ceramics NZ site. I see the ARG (in different variations) quite a bit and there is some variant in the writing, as with handwriting and i was wondering if Aileen Grant was any connection. I know there is a lot of difference, but there is also some similarity when taken as a whole. Does anyone know Aileen Grant or her work to be able to rule her out?

Re: Shrek Like Casserole - Mark?
I am interested to know what the book is called and I could look for a copy to use for reference.
it may be able to help indentify some of the mystery backstamps of potters we have in the galleries.
Thanks janice

Re: Shrek Like Casserole - Mark?
Hi JanPots, the book is the one we all have. "Marks of New Zealand Potters", A Comprehensive Directory by NZ Potters Inc 2007. I don't know of any other edition than this one. That would be interesting.
