Hand Ceramics Putaruru WJ Gray
I haven't seen that name before.

I just thought I should note, as this auction will disappear in time, that the spelling of "Gray" in the listing is the seller's interpretation: from the photos of the stamped mark I cannot be certain whether that particular blob is an A or an E so it could be either Gray or Grey.

This auction is back up:

Interestingly the earlier link from last year brings up this current auction too.

I've moved this to the Putaruru Hand Ceramics topic as I've never seen any name associated with that pottery before and don't want to lose it. Thanks Jeremy.

The Ferret is such a philanthropist in the way that he drops off all sorts of interesting New Zealand Pottery that he finds on his travels around the country and gives them to me for research purposes.
This Putaruru Hand Ceramics vase has the stamp above that Jeremy refers to: W J Gray
Thank you ever so much Ferret

I spoke to my mother who was a close friend of Tom and Kay. She thinks the name may have been one of her workers. Kay had a few people who would help out when she had a big order and occasionally someone would put their name on the bottom when stamping the logo. I don’t think they were supposed to do it.
