More Daniel Steenstra drawings. More added today
Here we have the rest of the scans that Dom and Sarah Steenstra gave me from their dad's notebooks.
The triangular dish below would have been turned, then he manipulated the corners to form the triangle.
Steenstra wasn't a painter and they were uncertain as to what he had in mind with the daffodil.
The decoration on the side of the lidded jar would have been raised clay applied after it has been turned.
They don't remember him making spoons.
Below you can see how he drew out grids to get the proportions right.
The basket here has a clay handle. He loved doing this plaiting apparently. but it was rather fragile... Sarah had a similar basket which has been broken.
This last vessel is a casserole side-on. They remember him doing casseroles at Beach. We haven't found one yet.
I have found a pic I missed. This is an interesting selection of vases. They said the rounded forms were much more his style than the angular and long-necked versions, but I do have a couple of angular vases and a salt pig which they confirmed were his.
