I was told this was an early Mirek Smisek pot by an auctioneer who should know. I have tried to find dates with marks but have not been very successful. This pot is large 360 mm tall.What date would this Smisek pot be? Img_0011

Mirek's book 60 Years 60 Pots has on the last page all of his marks and the dates used.
It shows there were 6 earlier marks than this one which is from 1968 onwards.
His first mark is from 1949. This is a great piece.

I've never seen one listed. I got my copy from the Rotorua Museum when the exhibition was on there. I was lucky that they would post it to me.

Hi there, I bought my copy from Mahara Gallery, Waikanae, Kapiti Coast - quite a while after the exhibition was there - may be worth an email? cheers Carol
