Where does this vitrified sugar belong?
The writing is hard to read on the base, but the trader says it reads:
Crown Lynn
New Zealand
Vitrified
Gibsons & Paterson
The script rings bells with me, but I can't come up with anything and it is bothering me!

Re: Where does this vitrified sugar belong?
Ev, I think this is Aquamarine glaze so it should belong in the 1600s with all the other Expo70/Chateau Range wares.
I haven't looked yet.
A wee bit later ...
But, it could be a three digit like the Expo jugs.

Re: Where does this vitrified sugar belong?
Thanks I did that blow up on my PC and didn't see any more than the trader saw.
It will remain a mystery for now .....

Re: Where does this vitrified sugar belong?
I had a play with the image myself improving the contrast but all the essential info is in Anne's pic here.
It sure looks like there is a "6" between New Zealand and Vitrified suggesting 1966.
I'll ask the seller about the number.
G&P were using year numbers before other CL wares.
I am really interested to find out about the glaze but this is way too expensive for me.
Later ...
Seller says "appears to be" [6].
Still thinking of the glaze as possibly being Aquamarine, a date of 1966 seems too early for me as Aquamarine has only been seen previously after the first use of Lucow. I have seen Aquamarine with white interiors (milk jugs, h/w pot) but not Lucow. And, Lucow has not been seen on vit wares. It could of course be a different glaze again ???
