Anton Pottery Nelson NZ
Hi Everyone
My parents were potters here in Nelson during the 70's and 80's. They had a studio out at Upper Moutere called Anton Pottery. Dad passed away 14 years ago now and Mum doesn't have much of his work (long story there). I want to put together information to pass onto my children about their Grandfather's work, so I'm looking for any photographs that anyone might have of Dad or Mums work. I'm also interested in hearing from anyone that might have pieces they want to sell. Dad did a lot of dinnerware, mostly in browns, blues and greens, but he also did vases, storage jars, casseroles, pot planters, and numerous other things. A lot of things had decorative writing on them in Old English style. He signed some things Anton Pottery, AP, Anton, sometimes a gold sticker and sometimes nothing at all (usually when he was really busy!). They sold their stuff all over NZ in shops so pieces could be anywhere. Mum also did a lot of knick-knacky kind of stuff, usually involving mushrooms, frogs, mice, boots.
Would love to hear from anyone who can help or give advice
Cheers
Jackie

Re: Anton Pottery Nelson NZ
Hi There,
I have just emptied my China cabinet and came across a teapot and 6 large cups with the ANTON NZ mark on the base of the pot? Are these from your family. They were given to me as a wedding gift back in 1990. I'm new to this site so I don't know how to send you a photo.

Re: Anton Pottery Nelson NZ
Hello Jackie
We are the proud owners of some of Tony’s pottery from about 1976. Your Dad and Mum were very good friends of ours back then and we stayed in touch for a number of years after we returned to the UK. However, eventually sadly we lost touch with your Mum. Tony specially made some coffee mugs and as a leaving present, goblets with our initials on and a wine decanter with a stopper. We are in Richmond for 3 weeks but could send pictures when we get home to Leicestershire.
Kind regards
Steph and John Hales
