1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
This shape has been bugging me since lindsay155 gave it to me a couple of months ago. The glaze has almost been removed due to dishwasher harshness. Today I thought I would trawl through shape info that I got from the Portage Museum to see if I could find it and wallah I did. The drawing shows that there are two other square pieces similar, 1625 small and 1626 larger and I don't think we have them anywhere on the site. Perhaps Jeremy has some?
Here is the Portage info and the measurements are a match:

In doing this exercise I came across a few shapes that we didn't have descriptions for plus some drawings that I will add sometime. Also lots of leads for me to follow when I get a chance.

1626
I think you're in luck. This looks like 1626.
Brooke gave it to me just a fortnight ago.
rounded square (bit like an old TV), 24cm across at widest (flat not diagonal).
It has the same profile as the drawing.

Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
Awesome thanks Jeremy
Would love to know what that pattern is .......
The 1625 is a little smaller. There don't seem to be that many of these around, though I have seen a couple lately on Trademe.

Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
I have two dishes which may fit into your search.
1. is 6 1/2" same as the alternative in the sketch further up the this thread and is BS'd the same.
2. Is a SVW 84 Different BS as below 190 x 150 x 42 mm
I have photo of another similar but not the piece without the thicker top lip that both these dishes have. Strength and makes for easier gripping when hot from the oven.

Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
Fantastic thanks Jonno as the first photo is the 1625 that we are looking for
We have the other shape in the Gallery and it is a 8613 Oblong Hospital Dish that looks square.

Now that has made my day, don't open NZ. Pott. as much as I used to but that was a snap as I had just put my one in the dishwasher after baking our weekly Bluff Salmon.
It is as good as the day that it came out of the kiln.

Nah! Blue Pacific I don't think so why would you put Blue Pacific in a screeching hot oven?
I just like my honest shiny brown glaze piece of pottery.

Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
It came close to the oven tonight Jonno but we decided it wouldn't hold enough for the three of us so it was a Temuka Alpine Mist oval baker instead.
How's that for cool in a hot oven!
Adds ...
Janice, that's different from the Blue Pacific pat no 125 in the gallery, so could be a new gallery pic.
And later ..
Oops! Alpine Mist is our Auckland tea set.
The baker is Spring Bloom.

Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
I read it in one of the adverts, from the Auckland musuem. Oven to Tableware
Then I saw a TM listing- with the blue spriggy pattern in the centre; that looks the same as the pattern on the plate?
Edits- Removed photo of - Newspaper clipping which reads "Oven to table ware to match"

Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
Photo added to the gallery - unsure if it has the same pattern number ? Pat 125 ?
Comparing it to 'Green Narvik - which has 2 numbers' - It could well have another number.

Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
My Database only has 125 for Blue Pacific, but there is a record of a Cook & Serve pattern 481, but I have yet to find what that is as no other pattern uses that number ??
Re: 1627 Cook & Serve Oblong Oval Roasting Dish
I found my own 1625 Cook and Serve in Autumn Splendour.
By the way I'm trialling Thumbnail options which enlarge when you click onto them, as this may be the reason that we are losing old photos. The 20th Century Pottery site like you to use this option, but don't say why.
