Shufflebottom/Shufflebotham .....
Did a search of the Waitakere Electoral Rolls
and found a match in 1954 .....
Shufflebotham Ernest Harvey 239 Blockhouse Bay Road. Potter
Shufflebotham Norah 239 Blockhouse Bay Road. Married.
Searched the Waitakere Rolls 1951 and 1957 and couldn't find them.
Perhaps they were living in another Electorate?
The history books need to be re-written

Ev you'll have to buy a vat of White-out and take to Crown Lynn's periodicals and Gail Henry/Lambert's books.

Ernest Shufflebotham
My understanding is that his name was thought to be spelt Shufflebottom until the Portage Ceramics Trust (who I work for) purchased the Coronation Loving cup in 2011 which was the first in the series and signed by him. Email me at curator@portageceramicstrust.org.nz and I can send you a photo of the base.

Re: Shufflebottom/Shufflebotham .....
Shufflebotham's son contacted a pottery site to tell them that they were spelling his name wrong. That site asked for a birth certificate which he posted. Then he was told to contact Te Papa which he did.
This was all before the Loving Cup was auctioned. However the cup was confirmation of the spelling for everyone to see and the Portage Trust purchased the Cup that was auctioned by Art & Object in June 2009. There may be more to the story than I remember ....
This link shows that Te Papa were using the correct spelling in Feb 2009

Re: Shufflebottom/Shufflebotham .....
Some years ago I found a link to a posting by the Shufflebotham family in England who were very keen to clear up the miss-spelling. Does anyone have a record of that link? It's not crucial but it would be tidy to have it.
