Super fun opshopping day today !!!
I've run out of time so I will just list my treasures for now and I had in my mind that I wanted some new cakes plates ...
A Calypso cake plate and the lady argued with me that it wasn't Crown Lynn "No No it says British on the back' .... oh well bargain for moi
A Covent Garden cake plate
A Campbell Hegan yummy stoneware dish xxx I would eat it if I could !!
A 1034 dark brown coffee pot .... 1st one that I've ever seen on my travels !!
A Christine Harris teapot .... never seen one before in the flesh !!
An Ev sauce bottle .... purely for nostalgia reasons
Harvey someone from Keri Keri vase
3 Colour Glaze porridge bowls
The Cottage plate and I really like the speckled glaze and want to find it's name.

Re: Super fun opshopping day today !!!
When I saw this I knew immediately that it was made from recycled clay, for example trimmings when turning the base of pots. The Breedveld pottery wheel that I had was inclined to rust and small flakes of rust were picked up when I cleaned the wheel. This rust then melted into bursts of iron oxide when the clay was fired and made the colour of the clay darker as well. This wheel was the best that I've ever used.
Not sure when this was made but I had that wheel from around 1976 and 1985, so in that timeframe at least.

Ev thank you for showing us your lovely work. Is it marked. Would you have time to post a few more examples?

No I didn't mark my work then, but used stickers that had my name on during that time. Didn't feel good enough in those days, but did later on and my marks are in the Potters Marks Book. I have never desired to promote myself or my work on this site, but have occasionally added the odd piece. I would like to add a piece that I have that is free from the rust particles to show the difference when I get time.
Re: Super fun opshopping day today !!!
Very interesting - thanks so much Ev. Is the brief brush stroke slash decoration typical of much of your work during that period?

Re: Super fun opshopping day today !!!
Hush guys, this is just a run of the mill production piece.
T&C I used a few different iron oxide strokes, one was a kind of Japanese temple outline, sometimes leaves. Yes I went through a definite leaves phase .... I enjoyed the way that the iron reacted in the reduction atmosphere in the kiln so usually did some decorating.

Your work definitely has an individual stamp Ev and I should be able to start recognising it now. I have always liked some element of surface decoration to draw the eye. Did you ever do "exhibition pieces" or have you preferred to stay with domestic-ware?

Re: Super fun opshopping day today !!!
Production pottery is bread and butter T&C, Exhibition pieces are where the creativity part comes into play for me and yes I've enjoyed making endless pieces for that purpose.
