Re: Gaylite Rathjen Pottery lamp made in Australia
Tony noticed Zana's Gaylite lamp listed in Jim Drummond's auction catalogue at Art & Object :
Lot 81. Titian Studio 'modern' lamp base.
Acid green coloured 'orange peel' glaze.
Incised mark and Gaylite sticker.
Exhibited Titian Studioware: The ceramic art of Cameron Brown.
Auckland War Memorial Museum. 2004.

Re: Gaylite Rathjen Pottery lamp made in Australia
Zana had posted this in the Crown Lynn Shapes Discussion Topic ...
Thought we would start a Gaylite Topic in hopes that we could find out more info about Gaylite.
You are right though .... the pic should be in the Titian Topic too....
We 3 are a strong team .... thanks Heather

Re: Gaylite Rathjen Pottery lamp made in Australia
Do we have a 'Gaylite' topic somewhere>?
I just found another nude lady Gaylite lamp, a different one from the one I am currently stripping the paint from, but very similar in style...

Re: Gaylite Rathjen Pottery lamp made in Australia
I think that this lamp might not have been made by Titian.
It could have been made by the Australian Henning Rathjen pottery. The signature and the stamp look very similar to me.
He also used the crackle glaze on some of his pieces.

also from the old collectiques web side where the yellow lamp is pictured and discussed.

Re: Gaylite Rathjen Pottery lamp made in Australia
Thank you so much haselnuss, as we were going by the Art & Object Jim Drummond catalogue for this information that was incorrect. I will move this thread to the Australian Pottery topic and change the title to Rathjen Pottery Lamp and remove it from the Titian Gallery. Cheers Ev
Re: Gaylite Rathjen Pottery lamp made in Australia
I would have listed it in the Titian gallery too with the info that was available at the time and because it looks so much like it could have been Titian.
The stamp more than the signature on the lamp has bugged me for some time it just didn't look Titian and bingo there it is on ebay.
