Te Rona Whare Mug (or cup)

Marked "Temuka 1980" on the front and "Kiri #20 M" (or "#20 17") on the base.
(M for mug?)

73mm H x 68 OD at lip x 59 OD footring

It appears to be the same shape as the other #20 in the gallery, and is also very like a #25 with a handle added, but it is one or two mm shorter in height.

Jasperware, I guess. I do not know the body colour on this ware so cannot say if the overall biscuit colour is body or slip. The scratched markings do not show any other colour beneath. It is clear-glazed on the inside only.

I have coveted that mug many times, but it has always been too expensive!
I have put it into the Gallery as Te Rona Temuka 1980.
How fantastic to see a date on this one. I haven't seen this before and there is a timeline somewhere which will pinpoint which one of the Lovatt's would have made this.
