The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
It is the most incredible thing to happen and there are so many shapes screaming out their numbers. I'm not sure where to start with all of this wonderful information.
Let me share the link with you first ... 4999 items over 556 pages !!!

3064 mug
I got to page 50 or so then decided to use the search engine.
http://www.nzmuseums.co.nz/account/3384/object/487169/Mug
Eg: they assign 3064 to this mug.
Where does this info come from?
Can we rely on it?

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
Jeremy please put shapes where they belong, which is not in this thread.
Yes indeed you can rely on this information 99% of the time. This collection of Richard Quinn's was bought by the Waitakere Council and has been cleaned, researched and photographed by Museum qualified professional people, who have done a fantastic job. It took them at least 2 years to do this. I have to add that I noticed one mistake and was disappointed with another finding, but even the Santa Mug is there and a conclusion is that Vic Lawson modelled it so it could be either made at Crown Lynn or Titian.
Just about every shape we are looking for has been identified so there will be an enormous amount of work for me to do. Please keep that in mind.

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
I'll leave you to it. I just cited the 3064 as an example, before I noticed you had already made additions to the gallery from Portage records. (Also saw 3619.) Searching by our missing numbers sure cuts out a lot of work.

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
I could add more but I think you have your own processes, Ev.
If you do want me to continue adding let me know.
I have left comments on a Teal Ceramics Irish coffee goblet mug and a Clay Craft Dad mug like my one that they have recorded as CL. At least I think I have as once you leave a comment it seems to disappear without trace. I've also offered them the number for the NZ Party mug shape which is recorded only as "trial" with no number.
I think they haven't made any decisions on 3050/3051 mugs yet although I get the idea they think the 3051 is the one with the small footring.
I find word searches frustrating as all sorts turn up (between 1000 and 5000 results!) but search by number is magic.
It is a really amazing collection.

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
I raced through it yesterday and noted down a page and a half of shapes that we are after. I just don't have the time to attend to them all just now. Work is very busy .... I left some info on a shape and my comment showed up right away. I would suggest that you add only facts Jeremy.
Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
Maybe I didn't do it right.
Where do comments appear?

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
I noticed that
Bruce Yallop [Modeller],
Juliet Hawkins [Designer]
Chris Harvey [Manager]
have been acknowledged re information on some pieces on the Portage site. They all worked at Crown Lynn.
John Perry has been mentioned I notice especially in regard to the Ginger Jars.
Jan Scoones - Designer
Archibald Fisher - Designer
Percy Golding - Designer
Ian McNee - Designer
Tom Arnold - Designer
Eugene Kupsch - Designer
There could be more, so please let us know if you come across more. Bruce Yallop had told me that they had contacted him to help.
Jeremy check out shape 1033 to see where comments show up

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
I agree with you on the Clay Craft Dad mug Jeremy.
Could you add a link re the Teal Irish Coffee, as I'm not sure which one is in question.

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
Yeah, sorry, I missed this question Ev.
It's this one:
http://www.nzmuseums.co.nz/account/3384/object/491484/Mug_-_Irish_coffee
I have left a few more comments here and there but unlike this one I have generally added supporting argument and links and contact details.
I just added a bit more to the Irish mug entry to let them know I'm not just making it up.

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
Thanks but I already worked out which one it was and let them know as they asked for a list to be corrected. However that was a while ago now and they all remain incorrect.
Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
Hello
Sandra from the PCT here.
I've updated the record. Thank you for all of the comments, please do keep them coming. I'm keeping a record of them and will probably update all of the records in bulk when I re-import all of the records from the main database.

Thank you Sandra.
I appreciate the feedback.
If you follow the forum you may note that I speculate quite a bit here.
I will avoid making any comments on PCT that can't be backed up.
Jeremy.

Re: The Portage Ceramic Trust Collection is online ....
Thanks Sandra, I keep checking the incorrect 881 jug to see if it has changed, but it is still the same and it isn't the Crown Lynn shape 881. I don't know who made it ...
http://www.nzmuseums.co.nz/account/3384/object/491699/Cream_jug
This is the Shape 881 jug and it is stamped with those numbers as is every one that I've seen -
