Re: Portage Ceramics Trust
I managed to get to this event.
There was a continuous long line of people queuing to have their treasures valued.
Unfortunately there were so many people around the tables where James Parkinson from Art & Object and Jim Drummond were, that you couldn't see the pieces until you were right up to the tables yourself.
I briefly saw some amazing pieces...
a Wharetana Ware 1029 brown mug!
a 1021 Wharetana Plaque....
a 1034 Wharetana Bowl glazed white - very unusual.... photo coming soon
a 55 Handpotted large bowl
a brown Handpotted 14 valued at $8000 plus
many white vases
2 huge Polar Bears.... James and Jim couldn't decide who made them!
2 seals .... couldn't find out what they said about these..
an ashtray highly decorated with gold lustre ...?
lots of Prince Charles and Diana ware..
and a Maui plaque.
There was a small display of moulds and handpotted ware and a loving cup.
Plus a Pohutukawa dinner plate and the stamp mould that was used to decorate it.
This would have been a successful fundraiser and hopefully they can do it again -
next time I will stay at the tables and watch everything get unwrapped!!

Re: Portage Ceramics Trust
The PCT is moving into the Ambrico building, and at the same time the Ceramics Heritage Trust has been kicked out......at the Portage Ceramics Exhibition 2009 the chairman stated that if the Government centralises the funds from gaming machines etc this could be the end of the PCT. In the meantime the CHT needs a new home and may be moving back into the Ambrico building if there is room. Someone needs to beef up security at that tin shed.

Re: Portage Ceramics Trust
Is that the 'lock-up' near the Ambrico Kiln Tim?
How dare they kick out the Studio Pottery History!!!!!
That's not very fair..... and it's all related in a way.

Re: Portage Ceramics Trust
Titirangi Potters were offered the use of that building .... a few years ago now
but the Council came up with an offer of a new building made especially for potters
The Super City Council is gonna suck lemons ...... what will happen to the Arts?
It is a concern in all of the greater Auckland areas that I know of!!

Re: Portage Ceramics Trust
Ev,
I'm pretty sure I was looking at a hosted site for Portage Ceramics Trust, but I don't seem to be gooooogling properly.
In particular, I was looking at a list of Crown Lynn competition winners from the 60s and 70s:
Peter Gibbs, Mark Cleverley etc.
Do we have that list?
Can you identify the site?

Re: Portage Ceramics Trust
That'll be the list. I remember the pics. I'll bookmark it.
I still have a bit of difficulty navigating the forum.
I'm sure I saw a hosted site for Portage Ceramic Trust though.
I remember thinking that's an odd url, then realising it was a hosted site like ours.
As you can see from my bit on Royal Oak et al,
I do a lot of this stuff late at night.

Re: Portage Ceramics Trust
The search function will help you find anything you want if you use keywords Jeremy, but it does not include numbers which is annoying. Google can find our numbers easily though
