Forest Ware Nz vase handpainted by L A Walker
I was tipped off about a vintage mega store not too far away and found an awesome mix of pottery including this handpainted Forest Ware Vase.
The most important thing about it is that it's signed by L A Walker.
I had noticed this ceramic artist a few times on Trademe and kept references to her work.
This is the first clue we have in any way to the maker of this pottery.
By the way the ware is slip cast, very thinly and the vase is extremely light weight.
anjoy had a piece listed and gives some insights about her and her connection to Wattleware in this auction -

Just found out on Google that La Walker hand crafted, painted and cast a Pottery Fantail Bird which was sold on ebay with original tag.

Great stuff haselnuss, though I can't find a photo no matter how hard I try!
Forest Ware NZ now has it's own topic and any further info can be all put together.
I see that she cast the fantail too. So not only is she a decorator, but a caster as well. We don't have any wattleware on the site yet, though I may have a piece somewhere ??? anjoy seems to remember her ..... I wonder what she knows about Forest Ware?

Two LA Walker hand painted pieces. A medium vase and a big jug. Not marked Forest Ware but similar clay and glaze.

The vase is handpainted by N Walker.
The beautiful jug is very similar to this one listed on TM and they mention that she worked for Wattleware at one time, so there are a few possibilities of the maker -

Re: Forest Ware Nz vase handpainted by L A Walker
I am so sorry again I am blind as a bat!
Yes, it is N Walker and because the vase has flowers (like the LA Walker Forest Ware vase ), the name Walker , handpainted in 1983 all matched I thought may be Forest Ware because lots of Traders get the marker wrong if the piece isn't marked. Even my hubby didn't notice the different initials when he took and edited the photos.
I still like it and the texture of the vase and the jug are similar.

Because Ev's link isn't working any more here is another one.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/antiques-collectables/art-deco-retro/home-d%C3%A9cor/vases-jugs/auction-942200479.htm
The trader says that she decorated pottery for Wattle Ware in Waihi in about the 80's. The jug on the auction is dated 1983 and shows a town and river sketching in black.
Here is my jug with a similar décor.
