Re: Dave Wolland made this bottle....
I have two with the same mark. Correction, had. A toddler broke one of them recently. It looks like his mark although I wasn't sure who had made them when I acquired them, I just loved the look of his work. I'll upload a picture of my remaining one when I can find it (I just moved house).

Re: Dave Wolland made this bottle....
I found an email address for Dave Wolland, so have sent him a link to this thread to ask him to take a look as it is probably his mark I feel.
Re: Dave Wolland made this bottle....
This is the reply from Dave Wolland ...
"Hi Ev, nope and I have no idea who made it. I would have to see underneath to say more as the base has lots of clues. Looks like earthenware with influences from Crown Lyn. Cheers Dave"
So I will remove his name from the title.

Re: Dave Wolland made this bottle....
Dave's response made me wonder if indeed he had seen the bottle in question, so I sent a photo of it to him and this was his response ...
"Well this is a different photo! I can confirm that l made it and that mark usually indicated that l dug most of the clay used myself. Cheers Dave"
So I will put his name back in the title and add his mark to the Potters Marks Gallery and then all is sorted and well with the world
Edits to add that I couldn't find his mark so I added another copy to the gallery, which means there may well be the original floating around somewhere

Re: Dave Wolland made this bottle....
The glaze has a salt glaze look about it Cat.
Are there marks on the base to support my theory?
Like white circles where the wadding was placed....

Re: Dave Wolland made this bottle....
This is the base, no wadding marks, I thought at first look that maybe it was a salt glaze too, but maybe not Why does salt glaze have to have wadding?

Re: Dave Wolland made this bottle....
Ok so no wadding marks like you say Cat. Then it must be a special glaze that breaks like that.
Salt glaze fired ware needs wadding to keep it from fusing to the kiln shelves as when salt is added at high temperature it volatizes and flies around the kiln and lands on everything in the form of a kind of liquid.
Another method is to fill shells with wadding and that leaves a shell mark on the base, but keeps it from sticking to the shelf.
