Is the Flora and Fauna plaque 2610? Or the 2152??
From Ev's descriptions, I am wondering if 2610, the "Artware Vit NZ Theme Plaque" is the famous Flora and Fauna plaque. My book, Crown Lynn NZ Icon, pages 104-105, describes it as made from 'temperamental high-quality porcelain", and says it was presented to Deputy Prime Minister Jack Marshall in March 1969, which would fit with the date of 9/7/1968 in the description. Question - there is no number in that section for the smaller plaque. You would expect the numbers for large and small to be in sequence. And for all I know, you already have this plaque somewhere else? Anyway, here it is, photo from Studio Lagonda.

Wow that just blows me away as it's just so logical! No that plaque isn't anywhere else. This record is by its self I recall, but I will check it out tomorrow as it seems odd that the small one isn't with it.

We have a few of the small plaques on the site -

I can't find any record for the small plaque.
By the way they seemed to like to start the records with 10 as the last two digits, so there probably won't be any before this number and 2610 is all alone, as there is nothing after it either.
Well done though, as you have hit the nail on the head with the big plaque.

Re: Is the Flora and Fauna plaque 2610? Or the 2152??
I've just come across a record for the 2152 Flora & Fauna Plaque 275mm E/W from Sept 1984.
I'm thinking that the 2610 vit plaque from 1968 is another vitrified version.
Val please measure your one when you get time and if it is 275mm I will change the number for it and hope that more info turns up for the 2610.
Previously we didn't have a description for the 2152.

The Portage Museum has one on their site at 280mm which sounds the same .....
I will have to ponder on their details though and the records, as these were originally made in 1968. So tai hoa for now.

Re: Is the Flora and Fauna plaque 2610? Or the 2152??
The small one is shape 8021 and we have one with gold lustre on it in the Gallery. There are many green glazed small ones around and brown glazed small ones too.
It seems that these plaques were made a few times right up until 1984 for the big 275mm ones. It is still a puzzle, but more info will probably turn up. Crikey I've only processed one box from the Archives so far and have so much to do I don't really know where to start.

Perhaps Bruce Yallop would have the answers as he was there for those later ones, although Tam Mitchell has signed off the 2152. I will add the description to the Gallery.
