Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
Nobody has posted a dark brown Apollo anything yet, but I'm sure I have a plate somewhere.
The adverts in the digitalised papers from Australia have this glaze with three different names and I will add the links ...
Moss - [far right middle] from March 1975
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/48074115?searchTerm="crown Lynn"&searchLimits=l-title=112
Verona from Oct 1974
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/51385684?searchTerm="crown Lynn"&searchLimits=l-title=112
Colonial Brown from May 1975 - this is described as a "fashionable mottled brown".
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/44554352?searchTerm=kelston&searchLimits=fromyyyy=1975|||frommm=05|||fromdd=07|||toyyyy=1975|||tomm=05|||todd=07
So we are still none the wiser yet ..... huh?

Crikey I wasn't aware of that Janice.
You will have to post them so that I can see them sometime when you get time.

Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
I have been sorting my Crown Lynn and Titian/Orzel cups today. I will post a brown Apollo tomorrow. I hope the brown is dark enough. I also found a Titian cup with a Presley Ware sticker on the base, a yellow cup made in the Phillipines. I haven't paid much attention to the tableware posts yet because there are so many patterns.
Have just returned from my Aladin's ie. Crown Lynn Cave with the Moss Brown Apollo set. I'll get hubby to take a picture tomorrow. I wonder how mottled the Colonial brown set is. It looks very much like the Moss brown in the picture. Comparing the two pictures the Colonial brown is a lighter brown compared to the Moss brown. I'll post the Moss brown and a lighter brown Apollo plate too.

Now in daylight the Colonial brown is showing it's true colour. It is mottled after all.
Next to it is the Moss set.

Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
Yes I can see the difference as the one on the left is a much lighter brown colour. Do these have the pattern names on them haselnuss?
Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
Hello Ev, There are no pattern names. The Colonial brown dinner plate says Kelston Ceramics New Zealand all the others Colonial and Moss say Genuine Ironstone New Zealand.

Thanks we will run with those names haselnuss, unless some other info turns up
fluted brown and honey glazes
Hi
These photos are a bit overdue! I just found them on my camera
You can see the mottled pattern - this the Colonial brown that haselnuss loaded to the thread.
The BB and dinner plate on the left are slightly different in shades of brown.
The dish is the same honey glaze colour as honeyglow d857 - would that be the "honey" glaze as per those woman weekly adverts?
The cups:-
the brown one ( unsure)
I think the moss green colour goes with mikado D242

Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
Gulp* The one that you call Honey looks like the gold Apollo in the No Names from Marl ....
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t2371-marlyn-d351-and-no-name-gold-apollo?highlight=apollo
So there are three different browns, just like those adverts show.
Would the darkest one be Verona perhaps? Verona is black in the Modello range.

Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
I can only see the honey and the (2 browns ) the colonial brown and moss on the adverts - I think the middle one is maybe the homestead 444?

Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
I loaded Marl's plate as Honey and she corrected me saying it was gold rather than honey.
I will check the ads again ..... as I'm confused too now

Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
Ok got it now! We have agreed on Colonial Brown as the mottled brown.
There is still the Moss and the Verona to agree on.
The Verona is in the second advert and looks very dark.
So there are three browns and three names and we just have one to go

Re: Dark Brown Apollo shows up in Oz adverts several times with different names!!
Verona is in the second link that I posted in the first post in this topic ....
I searched so many different things eg Kelston, Ambrico etc so it may be from one of those searches.
