3629: a better pic for the gallery
cups with two handles: 3629 and "3069"
Photos courtesy of Aria. 3629 is a two handled version of the 3610.
I had hoped to soak the transfers off and post a full on front shot,
but sadly this cup died in the post.
So, feeling the need to compensate myself I bought this:
It appears to be a 3044 with an extra handle. I can't find a number.
Actually, I was going to be in Auckland soon after the auction finished,
and wanted to check out riddle's collection!

Re: 3629: a better pic for the gallery
Great stuff Jeremy, but I'm so sorry to hear that the cup died ....... boooo hoooo
I saw this when it was listed and knew what it was immediately.
Umm the transfers look like children's lithos and would have been fired onto the cup.
I have two of the other 2 handled cups and darned if I can find the number. That series was still being made in the late 1980's so I wonder if they came after the records stopped perhaps.

Re 3629:
Aria said they were transfers and would soak off in water.
That's all I know.
NZ Post has agreed to compensate for the damage.
I was looking forward to this. At least we have the photos!
Re 3044+:
I thought it MAY have been made as a castware and have 1xxx number,
But I think the handles look as though the have been fitted, a-la-3xxx.

Re: 3629: a better pic for the gallery
It dawned on me in my sleep why these Crown Lynn records from the Museum stop at 1984! This is what is on the cover of the Shape Guide .......
MS 2009/5 Crown Lynn Shape Guide Xerox from modeller Tam Mitchells books at Crown Lynn by permission Mng C Harvey and M. Dir Tom Clark 1984.
The fact that Crown Lynn continued for another 5 years can't be included in these records of course. There were people working there right to the end, but many also dropped out during that time and it seems to coincide with the time that Tom Clark retired too.
Perhaps somewhere out there in memorabilia land there will be complete records ...?

Ev.. Re your comment, as a side comment I guess , 1979 memo in the deco advice book refers to information being stored on computer. Which I thought seemed a bit early for technology of that kind. If that is that what it means?
It would have been when PC's were just getting started, programs like DBase, ( now Assess/data base) & superCalc ( now Excel) etc... Interesting, finding snippets of information and trying to piece them up. I need to go back to the museum, when I get a chance

Yes it is interesting how Crown Lynn were leaders in technology back in 1968 when they housed their new computer in Ceramic House !!
There are still 10" floppies around that have what look like financial records on them that I haven't been able to determine if they can be read or not. So far it doesn't look promising as it is more than likely that they will have deteriorated by now and will be corrupted. I MUST go back to the Museum ASAP!

3069
Portage have the 2 handle mug as 3069.

Later ...
I see that they have given the same number to this cup with just one handle.

Re: 3629: a better pic for the gallery
Yes I had picked up on that too. My catalogue has the one handle baby cup as 3044 which screams out wrong to me now as I know that number is for the TV Tray cup. We have to double check everything really as I would say that the cup with two handles would have a different number!
3069 description sounds right for the one handled baby cup.

Re: 3629: a better pic for the gallery
This is a better picture.
This one arrived intact!
(Some time ago.)
One handle is definitely higher than the other!
(Ie it's not the fault of the photo.)

Re: 3629: a better pic for the gallery
Haha what a laugh. I will leave the one that is in the Gallery as it has had 161 views and it's just fine really it is.
