5021 Shape - Soup Cup 5619 with 3041 Handle ?
When I saw these 2 items stacked one on top of the other, I thought that they were stacking sugar bowls, but was suprized to see that they had handles. From searching through the my museum notes I think that they could be the 5021 - the handle is the same as the cup handle 3041. ( well as near as it needs to be squished about 3mm to be exact! )
What do you reckon?

Oh wow I haven't seen that one before and YES I totally agree that it will be the 5021 shape. This also leads us to the 5619 sugar basin and the 5618 Cereal/Soup with 2 handles as we will recognise them because of this shape. Oh Bravo Well Done Janice

Heheee now do any of your ones have two handles or no handles? We are on the lookout for those two shapes now that this one has been identified

Ok so I have this vitrified large sugar that could even be a 5618 !!
It looks right, but I still have to measure it. What do you think?

I measured my vit sugar, but it was smaller- the measurement is Approximate : 11 cm diameter x 6 cm high

Re: 5021 Shape - Soup Cup 5619 with 3041 Handle ?
Measurements are 10.5mm across x 5.25 high and the flange measures 1.5 and is very pronounced. Hmmmm perhaps the vitrified were a bit smaller as were fired higher and the clay continues to shrink as the temp goes higher. Am I clutching at straws?
Re: 5021 Shape - Soup Cup 5619 with 3041 Handle ?
Hiya Ev, I re-measured and it is 11 cm diameter x 6 cm high the vit. sugar is the measurement you quoted - so we still have to find one.

Beware the measurements!
Janice, Ev,
I just measured a vit sugar at 11cm OD at top one way but only 10.8 at right angles x 5.55 H all the way round.
Be careful when you measure circles as they are often elliptical.
(Those 3645, 47, and 49 are even worse: Val's 3649 is 18cm one way and nearly 19 the other, a difference of 9mm or 5 percent!)
Also, Ev, your thinking here about shrinkage equates what I was wondering about with the demitasses, that somehow the different firing and/or recipe accounts for different shrinkage on what is effectively the same shape!
That works for everything but the body thickness, which is unfortunately the opposite.
Ie, the vitrified demis that have the same handles as the E/W ones are smaller but thicker bodied.
Ev and Janice, I'd be interested to hear about any differences in body thickness with these shapes too.
Your discussion and conclusions here could have consequences for other shapes too.
As I have noted elsewhere, the E/W coffee cans are 3mm higher and wider than the vit ones. There are referred to as being the same shape, but the SIZE difference is about 5 percent.
And again: the vitrified tulip is way smaller than the E/W one.

Point taken Jeremy, we just need someone who worked at Crown Lynn to walk in and tell us what we need to know as this is out of my pottery arena.
