Who is this mark?
This jug is almost identical in shape to Royal Oak, but it is marked and it has a much crisper, shinier glaze than anything I have seen in Royal Oak. I have found a sugar bowl, jug, and mug in this ware. Not all of it is marked, but the sugar bowl and jug are. Any theories anyone?

I have a slipcast mug somewhere with that mark on it.
Could have a photo somewhere as well .....?

Ev have a close look sometime at your mug... I felt that the clay body was different from Royal Oak? Sort of grainier.

Re: Royal Oak cup with backstamp
Aha! I had forgotten about this. My Salisbury source told me that this would have been a mark done by Owen Salisbury. For some time, Owen was in a workshop separate from his sons Edward and Stewart, and during that period Owen did quite a bit of experimental work. Owen obviously decided to put his own mark on these pieces.

Re: Royal Oak cup with backstamp
Hmmm ok, so do you think it's ok to add this mark to the Royal Oak Gallery, as the shapes that it was put on were the same as Royal Oak? I think so as Mr Salisbury was Royal Oak
Re: Royal Oak cup with backstamp
Yes I think it belongs in the RO gallery, it's a royal oak shape and made by the family.

Re: Royal Oak cup with backstamp
The S is a lot like the S in Sama on the stickers. Same stuff?

Re: Royal Oak cup with backstamp
Same family made it. Sama was an earlier version of Royal Oak.
