Porcelain Malaysia "Crown Lynn" 1908-2008 Ontrack Centenary cup. It is not made by NZ Crown Lynn but in Malaysia long after Crown Lynn closed. Still an interesting piece.

That is lovely to see and yes it is an interesting piece.

(See page 147 of my book Crown Lynn a NZ Icon) I am not sure if it is still there, but in about 2005 my friends who were working in Kuala Lumpur stumbled upon the Crown Lynn shop. I contacted the owner, Tony Goh, who told me his company bought the rights to the Crown Lynn name in 1993, and in 2005 his factory had a yearly output of 3 million pieces, mainly fine porcelain and bone china. I didn't realise that any of its products were commissioned by NZ! I guess that since it is an NZR cup, they deliberately sought out the maker who had the rights to the Crown Lynn name.  For old times sake. Love the N.Z.R on this cup.

Hello, I have both of your books. The first one actually got me interested in learning about Crown Lynn's history. At the beginning of my collecting journey I used to have it in the car to check out my latest finds straight away.

When I purchased the cup from the hospice shop I also thought that it was good of Ontrack to have the cups made by Crown Lynn Malaysia to keep the Tradition going.

Obviously NZ Made would have been better.

When I purchased the Titian Presley ware white asymetric planter and the black B206 about a month ago the owner of the antiques shop told me that a local old lady sold them to her recently and that she used to work for the Brown family. I asked the antique shop owner to help me get in contact with the lady because I have sooo many questions in regard to the Brown family pottery pieces. But nothing has come of it.

It was good to find out more on the Malaysian made C.L. C&S made for Ontrack's centenary celebration. I then read that there were 2400 sets produced but cannot ascertain the price they were sold for at the time and what the value might be of a set nowadays. Does anyone here have an idea? Thanks

Hi there, from memory I think that the duo fetch around $50, though I can't find anything to verify my thoughts.
