Crown Lynn Art Deco Lady Lamp base
This came into work today:
Tiki backstamp, no number.
Am guessing this is a lamp base as it has suitably sized holes for a cord and light fitting to go. Under the gold paint, it is the lovely silky cream/white glaze, as on the swans etc (we are assuming that the paint was put on by a previous owner, and wouldn't have been sold as such originally!). So I am to see if I can get the paint off There's a bit of a flake off the glaze, which we are hoping won't be so noticeable once the gold paint has gone.
There is a wee modeled 'plaque' on the side of the base, which may give more clues once it's cleared of paint, but it's currently not readable to me.
I can just picture her with a small globe lamp to lean against!

Trying to work out what it says on the side - think the first three letters are "Gay" then possibly an 'L' and an 'I'...

Re: Crown Lynn Art Deco Lady Lamp base
No it's not in the Un-numbered Gallery and I will fix that shortly.
Has some age to it no doubt.

Re: Crown Lynn Art Deco Lady Lamp base
The one that sold at Jim Drummond's auction has some wonderful info in the catalogue.
Crown Lynn lamp base modelled as a seated naked lady on a rocky base. Modelled by David Jenkin. With original painted steel tube lamp support. Matt white glaze.

Re: Crown Lynn Art Deco Lady Lamp base
Awesome, thanks! This lady is in line for a turpentine bath as she needs a good soak to get the paint off. Would John be able to supply a photo of the back of the lamp and side on, showing the lamp fitting part? Would be great to source something similar to 'complete' her She has been used as a vase for dried flowers, but would be nice to see her restored to her former glory!

Re: Crown Lynn Art Deco Lady Lamp base
I can ask John, but he constantly trades so I wouldn't hold my breath.
I found the Drummond Art & Object catalogue online and this link may take you to the lamp base I hope. The metal rod has a bend in it going away from the lady to accommodate the lamp shade.

I just checked and it's on the page after the Black Three Faces of Eve lamp base

Just noticed this while doing a google search:

which is a photo google has captured from this expired TM listing:

It does look very similar in style.
and another example

AMazing what difference in prices the mention of "Crown Lynn" and a good amount of info on the first listing, and it sold for $366, the second one had a brief description and no mention of Crown Lynn, and it sold for $60!
