Tiki backstamp, no number.

Am guessing this is a lamp base as it has suitably sized holes for a cord and light fitting to go. Under the gold paint, it is the lovely silky cream/white glaze, as on the swans etc (we are assuming that the paint was put on by a previous owner, and wouldn't have been sold as such originally!). So I am to see if I can get the paint off Smile There's a bit of a flake off the glaze, which we are hoping won't be so noticeable once the gold paint has gone.

There is a wee modeled 'plaque' on the side of the base, which may give more clues once it's cleared of paint, but it's currently not readable to me.

I can just picture her with a small globe lamp to lean against!

Trying to work out what it says on the side - think the first three letters are "Gay" then possibly an 'L' and an 'I'...

No it's not in the Un-numbered Gallery and I will fix that shortly.
Has some age to it no doubt.

The one that sold at Jim Drummond's auction has some wonderful info in the catalogue.
Crown Lynn lamp base modelled as a seated naked lady on a rocky base. Modelled by David Jenkin. With original painted steel tube lamp support. Matt white glaze.

Awesome, thanks! Smile This lady is in line for a turpentine bath as she needs a good soak to get the paint off. Would John be able to supply a photo of the back of the lamp and side on, showing the lamp fitting part? Would be great to source something similar to 'complete' her Smile She has been used as a vase for dried flowers, but would be nice to see her restored to her former glory!

I can ask John, but he constantly trades so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I found the Drummond Art & Object catalogue online and this link may take you to the lamp base I hope.  The metal rod has a bend in it going away from the lady to accommodate the lamp shade.

I just checked and it's on the page after the Black Three Faces of Eve lamp base cheers

Just noticed this while doing a google search:

http://www.google.co.nz/imgres?newwindow=1&sa=X&espvd=210&es_sm=93&biw=1280&bih=879&nfpr=1&tbm=isch&tbnid=dzsvUjfkhvToeM%3A&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.trademe.co.nz%2Fantiques-collectables%2Fart-deco-retro%2Fhome-d%25C3%25A9cor%2Flamps-lightshades%2Fauction-401141227.htm&docid=9qZjLeoYfNMCQM&itg=1&imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.trademe.co.nz%2Fphotoserver%2Fgv%2F21%2F184381921.jpg&w=118&h=176&ei=imwKU6WfOIWxkAWaqICQBw&zoom=1&ved=0CJkBEIQcMBQ&iact=rc&dur=471&page=1&start=0&ndsp=29

which is a photo google has captured from this expired TM listing:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=401141227

It does look very similar in style.

and another example

http://www.google.co.nz/imgres?newwindow=1&sa=X&espvd=210&es_sm=93&biw=1280&bih=879&nfpr=1&tbm=isch&tbnid=fkTY6cDfmpj96M%3A&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww9.trademe.co.nz%2Fbrowse%2Fcategorylistings.aspx%3Fcondition%3Dused%26mcatpath%3Dantiques-collectables%252Fart-deco-retro%252Fhome-d%25C3%25A9cor%252Flamps-lightshades%26page%3D4%26rptpath%3D187-2192-2678-6493-&docid=2iBjkYv1IDITdM&itg=1&imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.trademe.co.nz%2Fphotoserver%2Flv2%2F286123524.jpg&w=72&h=120&ei=imwKU6WfOIWxkAWaqICQBw&zoom=1&ved=0CLoBEIQcMB8&iact=rc&dur=696&page=2&start=29&ndsp=38

from this listing:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=647921149

AMazing what difference in prices the mention of "Crown Lynn" and a good amount of info on the first listing, and it sold for $366, the second one had a brief description and no mention of Crown Lynn, and it sold for $60!
