Expo 70 Osaka (including Expo photographs)
Michael Smythe, author of "New Zealand by Design" (Godwit, 2011) has kindly allowed me to post these photographs from Expo 70 (Osaka, Japan).
The photographs were originally supplied by Michael Payne (designer of the Geyser Room restaurant at Expo 70). The photographer is unknown.

The chopstick rest is shape 1070.
Ok so that will be the ramekin that we are looking for and it matches Kat's butter thingy.
Perhaps that large oval dish is the one I found in the records today?
Can't imagine eating off the Maui plate heheeee

Re: Expo 70 Osaka (including Expo photographs)
It looks like the 1645 will be the smaller casserole ...... huh?
Maybe a cup and saucer in the Aquamarine glaze too?
Can't quite see the shape ........

Re: Expo 70 Osaka (including Expo photographs)
The dark pottery is Chateau Range glazed in Aquamarine.
Small casserole is 1645.
My guess is the larger one is 1648.
The "ramekin" is the 1644.
The cup and saucer sold recently on trademe and I stupidly didn't buy it.
When the seller gets some more listings up I will ask if we can use his pictures.
I think there is a salt shaker obscured by the glass.
Glassware, btw, is Crown Crystal NZ.

Re: Expo 70 Osaka (including Expo photographs)
It's my butter dish now. Thanks Kat!
I have the 1644 and 1645 in front of me now, posed as in the photo.
It looks so right.
I just so wish I had the cup and saucer.
They had the Expo mark.
I think Kat said Jim has the butter dish in blue.
I must check that out.

later...
Left photo shows 1645 with 1647 behind
Right photo shows same with 1647 raised (on top of 1644)...
...suggesting that the 1648 in the Expo photo shares the same footprint and lid (1650) as 1647 as indicated by the gallery notes, and is about twice the height and volume. (Different lens and perspective make the 1645 look larger in my photo.)
The current gallery shot for 1648 is a place-filler.
This sort of thing might do the job instead:

In Ceramics August 1969 front page, about the Expo range:
"To tone in with the timber surfaces of the tables, the edging of the tableware and the outside of the upright ware will be Prussian Green."
