Papel Mug Shape 1482
Gotta love these cute monsters...and it has a lovely saying but most of all EV & Janpots... it has a number! 1482
Most of these mugs have Papel Made in New Zealand.. but this has Titianware & NZ!
"If I searched the world over..searched it both high and low..Im sure I'd never find..A truer bluer friend than you!!"

Re: Papel Mug Shape 1482
Woooooo that's fantastic thanks Kat
I will add it to the Gallery later with glee
This is one of those shapes that hasn't been added to the records, so we make our own records Hahaa!

Kat,
You've opened a can of worms with that.
You now have the highest numbered mug in the castware (1000-1600) gallery (well you will soon), and may have opened the door for other mugs without numbers to go in the castware rather than the 3000s.
I don't know the clay types, manufacturing processes and so on but when I first picked up item four in the rattling topic I expected it to be a 1000-1600.

Re: Papel Mug Shape 1482
As the Crown Lynn records finish at 1428 in the Castware Earthenware category, I think we are doing a great job to find 13 shapes so far that go past that figure
I find it very strange that none of the Modello Range shapes are recorded, but yet they made many dinner sets in those shapes. Luckily I have a Price List for that range that includes all of the shape numbers.

Re: Papel Mug Shape 1482
Just to clarify as it has not been spelt out here:
The 1428 is not the same shape as the Papel mugs. (Those with the Papel baskstamp.)
It's tricky to tell exact shapes from photos but the handle is distinctly different.
Kat, is this mug cylindrical or truncated cone?

Re: Papel Mug Shape 1482
Its cylindrical & has no ridges to handle. odd that it is marked Titianware too, maybe it was leftover transfers put on old shapes to sell in the seconds shops?

Re: Papel Mug Shape 1482
Thanks, Kat.
As the four digit numbers are chronological, if you can find a date near the 1482 you should have a good idea.
Ev has dated the "Rolled Cross" pots 1391 to 1394 at 1983 for me, so 1983 or after for your 1482 shape. Very late.
But the Papels MAY have STARTED even later: one has a 1987 calendar.
Have you seen the same transfers, or similar, on a Papel?
It may be a different series of patterns of altogether.

Re: Papel Mug Shape 1482
The last number with a description in the records is 1428 - 7.6.84
Then there is a long list of numbers without a description which goes to 1459.
I have added numbers up to 1500 as that is a Modello Vegetable Bowl and this was one of the last patterns that they made and is in a 1988 price list that I have.
So Kat's mug is from between 1984 and 1988 and would sit around 1987 like the Papel calendar mug I would guess.
