New four digit mug on tm is 1120
The mug top left in this auction is not in the gallery.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=691633654
Does anyone recognise it?
I have asked the seller about a number.

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
I could probably find it with a description that fits what it looks like.
Just don't have time at the moment, so mustn't forget!

The pictures
Thank you to magpie007 on trademe for adding a couple more pictures and allowing me to post them here. Chrissy says there is a number but it's unreadable.

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
Lovely clear photos - thanks so much magpie007 and Jeremy, such a shame that the number is covered with glaze.
Can anyone make out any of the numbers? Do I detect a 3 ???
Edits to add that what I could see was letters from the word Zealand!!!

Gosh, that is hard! best I came up with was 16?2 or ?753. Not sure it is up the right way even. Will fiddle around with it next week and see what I can come up with

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
It's bit like looking at a Rorschach test I think.
I haven't even worked out where the numbers are yet!
I'll take my contact out and switch on my microscopic vision
(natural shortsightedness) when I go to bed and big the picture up on the iPad.
Remember the number will be between 900 and 1599.
Okay, I've had a go.
Assuming the number is top dead centre in the photo I'd hazard a guess at 1210.
There is a missing item at that number and the mugs around that position in the gallery all look like knockoffs rather than original designs.
(First guess was 1216 but that is taken.)
On the sample mug I've used for finding the position the number is directly opposite
the NEW of New Zealand and I can't find anything resembling a number there.
Enough already. Ev will find it in the notes when she gets the time.

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
Hi Jeremy, I have one here and it is definitely 112...then I think it is a 9. The first 3 digits are clear. Tried to load a photo but I did something wrong so now i have emailed the pic to Ev. Do you collect these mugs?

Photo kindly sent from fi ....
It may be 1129, but there is no description for that number.

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
Yes fi,
I very much collect these. I have about 60 different shapes of Val's Honey Glaze mugs, aka four digit 900-1599, although not all in honey glaze. I have turned up a few "new" ones since I started collecting, not that long ago, as have others, so the number to collect keeps increasing. I want them ALL, but until we fill all the gaps in the gallery I have no idea what ALL actually means.
Thanks for your help with the number here. I didn't realise until this morning you had one of your own to study.
My collection as of December 22nd can be seen at
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t2158p60-show-us-your-mugs-crown-lynn-of-course#14383
This was my pre-holiday inventory so that if I found any while I was away I would not be buying duplicates. I have acquired a few more since then but collecting has slowed as I now have so many.
I collect coffee pots too and have some full sets.

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
Fabulous collection Jeremy!! I collect sample pieces in the hope that one day I will do an exhibition. Began with just one of each bread plate but now includes all cups, all mugs and many other things.... I am always buying duplicates by mistake so when I finally get to redo my inventory on mugs I will send you a photo of all my spares. I have no idea what half the numbers are as they are mostly just marked 'Made In New Zealand'. Have well over 100 mugs now. I sent group photos to Ev last year so you may find them on here somewhere. Well out of date now of course :-)
Happy hunting!!! Fi

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
Fi,
Have you seen my other collection?
The four-digits is effectively one glaze and lots of shapes.
My Cook & Serve collection is one shape and all the patterns and colours I can find.
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t1122-crown-lynn-cook-serve-coffee-cans
I have hundreds of cups and mugs but only a small number of shapes beyond the two collections, and very little before 1964 other than tulips.

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
LOVE the coffee cans.... I have only been lucky once and got a set of Saraband. Had a few random saucers but never never find any cups in Wanganui.
So, it sounds like you collect ALL cups and ALL mugs ( just like me)
Do you have them all on display or packed away?
I am desperately trying to get all my samples updated so I can have a massive clear out of duplicates. I will offer the majority to other forum members for $1 each.

Re: New four digit mug on tm is 1120
fi,
Basically it's the two active collection for cups/mugs.
Beyond what's on the Cook & Serve cans I've not got into patterns, so the rest is just stuff.
I have one long shelf with cans and two with 4-digits, which I need to extend but ITM doesn't have 6 x 1 rimu at the moment. Also there is this special one:
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t4095-hand-painted-cook-serve-cans#14010
The rest is in bins, or boxes, on tabletops or otherwise lying around.
I hope to get the two collections on display shelves in one room, freeing up space in the living ares for coffee pot and sets. Teapots occupy a kitchen shelf.
I've been focussing more on mugs by other Auckland potteries, (ClayCraft, Royal Oak, Kermiko, and Orzel), or example:
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t4524-six-make-that-seven-different-orzel-mugs?highlight=Orzel
I have way too much stuff and need to move some on. I haven't sold on tm yet.

It's a 1120 !!
I found this in the back corner at the Sallies today
and although it is hard to see in the photo, again because of all the glaze, I can verify that the naked eye sees it as 1120
