Re: Brown version of Topic
Found that I have this pattern in green, with the same backstamp as Heather's at the top but without a Pat.No.......
Brown version of Topic
Edit.. This is not Westwood as the Pattern book does not have the "white Spots"
Original post reads: I have identified this one from the patterns book. Westwood D254 - which is the brown version of Topic.
The notes say that the matching cup is a 3019 T.P Brown ( T.P = teapot brown) the darker of the browns?? 99% sure TP Brown is the darker brown. Ev will be able to confirm
I have put the "Green Topic" in the corner for comparison...

Re: Brown version of Topic
I guess the white rim Topic will have a different name and number ..... maybe?
I noticed Westwood in the Patterns book, but couldn't find the white dots that are on the Topic pattern. Can you see them? I thought oh ok this is Topic without the dots ...?
Do you think the white dots are there and are lost in translation?
Due to the photocopies of the patterns that the Museum has..... ?
Westwood definitely has the dark Tea Pot Brown shape 25 cups that go with it.

Re: Brown version of Topic
Good spotting Batman! I never noticed the white dots were missing on the museum page, ... I agree the cups are dark brown as I have seen this as a full set.
Also in the museum notes the other version of topic is D146 again without the white spots as its using the same template.
I went to check my Topic pieces but they are all stamped Kelston with no Pat number.
The Gallery has Topic as D436 from the backstamp on the dish ( see the thread)..
Ah!!! the plot thickens - so I will pull it from the gallery and put it in the no names...
So far 5 versions could exist.
Sorry Team !!
I will merge this thread with the other one

- the "original known version of Topic, that's in the gallery"
- brown version of the same pattern.
- Then again on a rimmed plate...
- The museum notes of Topic D146 missing the spots

Re: Brown version of Topic
Rightio, but I wonder where I got the number from? I will check the Database later to see what is on there.
Re: Brown version of Topic
I found where I got the Topic number 436 from ....
the Decoration Advices and it first shows up around 1964.

Good grief Topic on the Rim shaped plate is called Nikau d435 and it's on the Forma shape !!!
It looks like Jesscorbettnz's one, but the pic doesn't have those white dots again!!
