Crown Lynn Speckle Glaze Large Swan
Have just purchased a large (170) Crown Lynn Swan - whitish base colour, pink and black speckled finish and wondered if anyone has ever seen or heard of this type before? (Perhaps when they were using recycled tiles?)

Here is the photo that hellogoodbuy sent to the site and please comment on the glaze that you see ....
My first thought was that it looked like it had been in a fire

Re: Crown Lynn Speckle Glaze Large Swan
I don't think a fire. the white and pink glaze is quite smooth with the black bits feeling rough to the touch, This has been cleaned and washed several times and it IS all part of the swan, The white spots in head are actually in the pottery itself,

I've never seen a swan anything like that one!
Not a partly worn off paint-job?
There was a good thread recently in collector's forum on TradeMe about removing paint from a Crown Lynn hand potted vase. As black bits are rough to touch, I would be trying some of the suggested methods and seeing what happens.

Re: Crown Lynn Speckle Glaze Large Swan
Hi, This Swan had a really ugly white paint job when I got it. Have read the suggestions and here's how I cleaned this one. A spray of oven cleaner followed by a soak in very hot (not boiling) water. All the paint has come of and I am sure that this is the original swan.

Re: Crown Lynn Speckle Glaze Large Swan
Perhaps it could have been in a fire as the black comes off with a little elbow grease but the pink remains.
Have listed on TM anyway as is.

Re: Crown Lynn Speckle Glaze Large Swan
There is something familiar about that pinky glaze effect, but I haven't found what it is yet ???
I have an NZR saucer that has been in a fire and I'm user hydrogen peroxide to get rid of the black residue. It's taking some time, but has improved heaps already.
