Posting the reply from Lincoln Wines:

The bottle was made by Norman Parker of Henderson during the 1990’s. We sold these domestically and through Duty Free Stores with Port and Kiwifruit liqueur.

Did some research on Norman Parker on the way home from work today....
Electoral Rolls 1987 1988 1989 showed Norman as a Manfg Potter, 6 Glenvil Lane, Te Atatu
they didn't have any earlier Rolls.......
1990 to 2003 he was listed at the same address - occupation Builder.
He vanished in 2004
Then reappeared in 2005 at 5/2 Kaumatua Place, Te Atatu as Retired....
and he is still there on the 2008 Roll Very Happy

Edits: Meh he isn't in the white pages !

Post  Ev Tue 11 Nov - 11:00

I just spoke to Norman about his bottle Very Happy
I'm the first person to ever contact him about his pottery Very Happy
He wants me to email him a photo of the bottle as he is now 70 and he can't quite remember the bottle that I described .....
He did say that it was probably designed by a friend of a friend who would be long gone now.
All of his pottery moulds etc went when he gave up potting about 20 years ago.
He was a potter for 9 years and initially everything was hand thrown -
but eventually he did slip casting and had people working for him.
He traded as Parker Pottery but most of his work was not marked as such.
He ended by saying that he gave Lincoln Wines all of the moulds for bottles that they used.
He didn't know the word Wharetana Ware.......
He said that I had made his day saying such lovely things to him about his bottle.
cheers

Norman has replied..... copies and pastes:

Try as I may I cannot recollect the name of the person who made the model for the bottle.
In fact I dont know if I ever met this person who made the model .

I do believe the intermediate and the model maker had worked together at Crown Lynn but were bothe
well into retirement before I had made contact with either of them.

I have no business papers whatsoever regarding Parker Pottery. They were detroyed many years ago.

I think the bottle was started late 1986 , which would be about 22 years ago.

I know my input is of no help to you and for that am truely sorry.

All the best with your project .

Norm P

So there could be a Crown Lynn connection after all????
I will reply suggesting some Crown Lynn names and see if any of them ring bells for him.

Norman Parker ran Parker Pottery in West Auckland for 9 years from approx 1979 to 1987.

He produced this beautiful bottle for Lincoln Wines who used it for Port and Kiwifruit liquer.
It has been said that Hemara Hemara was the mould modeller for the bottle. But when I asked Hemara he said that he didn't make the mould for this piece.

Parker Pottery Bottle Lincoln Wines Empty Another Lincoln Vineyard bottle

Post  Kiwialan Tue 10 Apr - 15:24

Parker Pottery Bottle Lincoln Wines Parker12
Parker Pottery Bottle Lincoln Wines Tangat10
Hi All, I have another different bottle from Lincoln Vineyards as in the photograph. It's almost round, same both sides, stands 21cm tall and it's full. I contacted Peter Fredatovich about this and his reply. 'We sold Tangata Port crocks in the 1970's, one colour only, limited Edition made by Normal Parker, Parker Potteries, Henderson. Hope this helps"

Cheers Alan

Val Monk was told that Tam Mitchell modelled this by his widow Val Mitchell.

Yes Ev, I have the same one as you and paid $100 for it just a wee while back. The $500 they want is not even the reserve affraid I think they are hoping someone with too much money in their pocket will fall for the advertising and start a bidding war. I believe that what we paid for ours is much more realistic. sunny

Parker Pottery Bottle Lincoln Wines Empty two Lincoln Wines bottles by Parker Pottery

Post  Jeremy Ashford Fri 18 Mar - 15:10

Peter Fredatovich has been selling the unused Wharetana shaped bottles recently.

I jumped on the unused port bottle pretty much as soon as it appeared (I was just 2nd view).
Next thing another Wharetana one pops up. That's gone now too.

The Norman Parker bottles. The designer who had worked at Crown Lynn
might possibly have been Peter Cooke.
He certainly modelled under contract.
The maori motive that is adhered to this vase is a sample of his work.
It was created and glazed by Owen Salisbury during the 1960s.

You may be right oakpot as I didn't mention Peter Cooke to Norm Parker.
This Maori motive reminds me of some of the small bottles from Orzel.
I will try to find one to compare.

So I've just been informed by Ev that the Parker bottle was designed by HH. Ev did you want to tell everyone what you told me? As a side note: This seems to fit in quite well with the time Dave Jenkins retired and Parker hired someone who had worked with HH and had access to the unused designs. I'm off to the museum this week to get the lowdown.
