Swan auctions are going crazy!!
Last week a normal every day baby white swan sold for $350 ...... eeeeerrrrk
Today a large white swan is sitting on over $400 and still rising ..... finishes in about an hour
http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.asp?id=605538831&cc=61&pid=271610134&hbc=1&ct=link
What is going on? Val Monk's new book hasn't been released yet so can't blame that

I love it...all the pieces I have and not one I thought were 'spares'.
Though, I am now curious and hopeful. Yay.

Yes, BUT, this is the 7th time it has been listed now, so it's not selling at that price. Our local antique store has a perfect one for $345 and I thought that was bad enough, but apparently it's a bargain!

Brown/Tan early glaze fraction Mark swan
Hi guys,
I stumbled across one of these today, my first ever real life coloured swan.
My question is, what do you think is a fair price to pay for a small size swan like this, I think I know what I'd like to get it for, and what I'd be prepared to pay.
Would like to know your thoughts?
:-)
editing to add that it does have a firing fault of a crack to the wing about 10m in length, appears to be firing and not a crack post glaze.

Re: Swan auctions are going crazy!!
It will depend on the size of the swan, and you say 'coloured' but what do you mean by that? Perhaps a photo may help. If it is a running glazed swan it will be worth more than a white one. My suggestion is to search expired listings on Trade Me, or search swan on this site, as we have commented before about prices on swans. Good luck with it, I will keep an eye out.

Here's a picture, it is the baby swan shape 154 but doesn't have the number on it just a fraction mark. Picture shows it as a bit yellower than in real life.

Oh my! What an unusual colour! I don't think I personally have ever seen one that colour before, it is quite lovely! I would go with your gut feeling on price and see what happens.
