Timaru Potteries small crock.
This is only 18cm high so wouldn't hold bread or potatoes.
Maybe it was used for pickled onions?
It doesn't have a lid, but I'm not fussy about such things

re Timaru Potteries small crock.
Have one the same colour with lid from about 1948 they also made them in a beige mottled glaze.
Generally used then for storing dry goods such as flour & suger and rolled oats, as I recall.
