Not sure when these were made, but they always have the stamp from 1955+ on them.
Many thanks for sharing this special planter haselnuss

I think it looks simular to the couple of Daniel Steenstra for Crown Lynn jardini's from the www.artandobject.co.nz that are featured on the collectiques site.
What do you think?

Re: Planter pot courtesy of haselnuss
I can't access the collectiques site, so I'm not sure.
However I do have Jim Drummond's catalogue from Art & Objects auction a few years ago and there are four jardinières with saucers attributed to Daniel Steenstra that had marbleized finishes and lathe turned bands. Perhaps these are one and the same?

Re: Planter pot courtesy of haselnuss
The planter is just over 5.5 inch tall and including the saucer just under 6 inch.
The inside is unglazed and the outside high gloss glaze. The white lines around the planter are "grooves".
I can't say if it is hand potted. I have compared it with my hand potted float bowls and I am not sure either way. Sorry.

Oh my! Another size!! Thanks haselnuss
I have handled a couple of these planters, though they were much bigger and I assumed that they would all be the same size.
To me they looked hand thrown, as the foot ring was made by cutting through the clay.

I also think they are hand thrown. My hypothesis is that this would have been considered a 7012 after 1964 (the planter).

Re: Planter pot courtesy of haselnuss
Having just acquired more records from the Museum recently I was stoked to find these two:
250 - Hand Thrown Flower Pot Base
251 - Hand Thrown 6" Flower Pot
Also found these two adverts that have these hand thrown flower pots -
This is from a large advert in the Dominion from 1962
This one is from 1967/68
Also a photo of Daniel from 1969 -
My question is .... does anyone have a 6 inch hand thrown flower pot?
I'm bidding on a flower pot saucer at the moment .... wish me luck.

Re: Planter pot courtesy of haselnuss
I have just measured the flower pot again and it does measure 6inch without the flower pot saucer. I don't know why I measured it wrong before.
The other planter pot measures 5.9inch.

My favourite Opshop asked me I would like one of these planters for $4 today
It really looks like it has been slipcast and the lined decoration is perfect and looks like the Salisbury catalogue ones... BUT ..........................
it has Handpotted on the base !!!!!
It really was my lucky day as they also offered me a Coronation mug for $4 and how could I refuse? Hey hey hey it's my lucky day !!!
