What are the 18 basic Colour Glaze Colours?
As mentioned by Alison Reid in an article about her Colour Glaze obsession in the NZ Herald, where she says that there are 18 basic shades.
C'mon lets sort this one quickly!
I will add the colours to this post when they arrive.

This list is from an advert for Capri Colour Glaze in 1967 and the cups cost 2/11 each!!
Pastel Yellow
Olive Green

Maroon
Lilac
Mushroom
Brown

It's not 18, but it's a good start

re Re: What are the 18 basic Colour Glaze Colours?
Seem to have run into a problem in trying to help with this question.
Yesterday I tried to take some comparative photos of the colours of pieces that I have , but they were not successful as pieces that under good light are a different shade of a colour look the same in the photo or the colour is not true.
I had thought that a photo of the colour with the back stamp name would be an easy and clear way to differentiate between shades or intensities of a similar basic colour
but I need to try harder or another tack.
Trade Me is notorious for strange colour effects that is the photos posted are at times well away from the actual colour.
A work in Progress

Hahaa I thought that this would be easy!
I even messaged Aunty Mavis for her help, but no response .... yet.
I know what you mean about colour on Trademe listings, as I've asked many times...
'Is it blue or pink or yellow or on and on' and the answer is usually 'No it's white' !!!

I have received an answer from Aunty Mavis, not an answer to the question but something to look forward too. Allison Reid will be writing a book which will reveal all.

Re: What are the 18 basic Colour Glaze Colours?
Found a note I'd written to take to the Crown Lynn Exhibition to compare the list of colours we had to what Alison had on the wall. She had 18 and we had 21 at that time. Naturally I forgot all about it once there but it will be similar to hers. Will add tomorrow when I'm home.

Ahhhhh! slowly but surely the Crown Lynn sleuths unearth the clues.
Look forward to the new info.

Re: What are the 18 basic Colour Glaze Colours?
Here are the colours which I found in the Crown Lynn records at the Museum.
When I first saw the list of 18 colours that was in Alison's blurb, I thought they may have come from our site as I distinctly remember Ant Green, Duck Egg and Rusticana.... but they could have been sourced from the records too of course.
This is what we had:
Coral
Jade
Honey
Ant Green [Ant =Â Antique]
Rusticanna
Black
Lime
Mushroom
Duck Egg
Citrus
Tropic
Primrose
Rust
Yellow
Cocoa
Olive Green
Brown
Oyster
Teal
Clover
Pumpkin

Fantastic I love the names, Thanks Eve, should we now try to match a photo of each colour and name?

Re: What are the 18 basic Colour Glaze Colours?
A great idea !
Can you match any of those names in minz's rainbow?
She does have three different yellows ... and a few greens.
Would Coral be pink?
