Apollo - Chinese Lantern duo ~
Found this apollo duo today - I think the flower is abutilon - also known as flowering maple or chinese/paper lantern ( https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=abutilon&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=v9rVT7DYJaqhiAeboIWNAw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CFMQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=623 ) Whatever it is, I couldn't (or didn't!) see it in the gallery.
Would also help if I put the photo up....

Re: Apollo - Chinese Lantern duo ~
I have this pattern on an Apollo cup, but the flowers are yellow instead of orangy red.

Re: Apollo - Chinese Lantern duo ~
not too terrible, perhaps try taking it from a little further back- I don't think phones really do macro, though these days phone cameras are getting pretty good, so I could of course be wrong. Nice to see the different colour anyway :-)

Re: Apollo - Chinese Lantern duo ~
*coughs* I was a long way back, I think it didn't like being cropped so much .....?
Heh I took 15 photos and deleted 12 as they were totally unacceptable!
The three I kept didn't come up to standard, but it's a big learning curve atm

Re: Apollo - Chinese Lantern duo ~
lol, at the least a very fanciful version, I can detect a very faint resemblance to the open flower of the chinese lantern so who knows. My 6 year old broke my saucer
or I might have listed it seeing that there's a $15 bid on that auction!

Re: Apollo - Chinese Lantern duo ~
Heck I didn't even notice that bid, as I was too absorbed with the pattern!
It isn't a common pattern and 6 year olds have no conception of things such as saucers being treasures ......

she broke one of my Echo bowls in exactly the same manner! (being a big girl and getting her own snacks - right on the edge of the table/bench). I've had a bad run with Echo, I may list those some time before any more get broken lol In the interests of preservation of course!

Side plate in yellow/brown
The lantern flowers are less obvious... backstamp is Genuine Ironstone NZ
It would be nice to find out this patterns real name.

Here is the pattern of Kat's cup with the orange flowers, again only genuine ironestone. They look almost like echinacea flowers
