John's report re the auction.....
I was surprised that there were not as many people that I knew from the past there who collect crown lynn etc. Perhaps maybe they had all put the postal bids in. There were plenty of those. We got there about 8am and managed to find a park right opposite the building. Was peeing down with rain. had a coffee etc while we waited for them to open. The box lots in the basement were up first and i did get a couple of those. They were quite good box lots and some went up to $200-00. I got a box lot of Wentworth ware and Fancy Fayre, and another of interesting c/lynn etc. Will look through that soon. Then the main lot started and I was just blown away with the shapes and colours. I have never seen so much Titian and crown lynn in styles, shapes and colours that I have never seen before. They are not in any of the books. Prices were strong on most of it. I do have it all written down in my catalogue which I can post to you Ev for a look at. I did manage to buy a few things and will take pics of them and send you during the week. Some of it I think very interesting. I would have liked more but had my limitations and will keep looking at OP shops and Garage sales. Have left one postal bid for today. That is 2 crown lynn ginger jars, one blue the other maroon and the blue one has the crown lynn stamp on it. That is the only one in the auction that has that stamp. If I dont get it then the other bidder will have had to play plenty as I have left what I think is quite a hefty bid.
