1140 Coffee Pot - Lid 1141
yeah i got all the way to Tekapo on the way home, it was a stunning day Mt Cook was resplendent in all its glory and i got to the boot to find it was not there .
So now it is on its way slowly to me via wanaka with my aunty to be passed onto my cousin to bring it back to me in Invercargill. I cant wait as i have many lovely bits to upload for all to see.

Good grief I would never have found this coffee pot had I not decided to separate the Luke Adams thread into individual topics!!
I've never seen that shape before, but the glaze and the rings on the outside are the same as that on my Mark Cleverly one.
It's in the Gallery now ..... thank you narna

+ milk + sugar + mug!

Not every 4-digit mug has an accompanying coffee set but every coffee set has mugs.
It is easy to see that the "6039 Bulb Spout Jug" is a match for the Bulb Spout Coffee Pot, but we need a sugar basin and a mug too to complete the set. For the mug I propose the "1029 Handle Coffee Mug". More on that below.
For reference see:

For a sugar basin, two Luke Adams numbers offer possibilities. As yet we have pictures for neither. The "1032 - Basalt [no description]" is close in number and presumably date to the 1029, but more likely is the "1142 - Po Sugar Basin 23.3.72", which shares the same production date as coffee pot AND milk jug.
Now, as the my choice of mug. The "1151 - Plain Coffee (diagram) - 24.7.72" is closest chronologically but has no stylistic similarity: the 1029 does!

A separation of five years or so between production of the mug and the rest of the set is problematic, yet the stylistic similarities are unquestionable:

Re: 1140 Coffee Pot - Lid 1141
That mug is a definite match Jeremy! My guess is that the Po Sugar Basin goes with this set as it was first made on the same day as the Coffee Pot, but we will have to wait and see

Po Sugar basin: speculations
I'm glad you agree on that, Ev.
Next: Why "Po"?
Maybe it has a handle, or handles, like a potty.
It does after all go with a "Handle mug"!

I'm also keen to see whether descriptions turn up a coffee pot and sugar to match the "1408 Tai Coffee Mug [Woolworths]". There are two (maybe three?) jugs to match: the "6065 Tai Pint Jug WWorths", and the "6071 - 13 cm". Even 13cm is probably too tall for a coffee set I guess. I see that the "1347 Drop Handle Coffee Pot" (mug 1333) has three matching jugs: 6060, 6063, and 6064.

Re: 1140 Coffee Pot - Lid 1141
There is a 1029 in the lot that you picked out, plus one shape in Basalt that hasn't been identified yet I don't think.
Can't see any other "Tai" jugs .....?
Can see -
1409 "Tai" Egg Cup
1410 "Tai" Sugar Bowl
1411 "Tai" Salt
1412 "Tai" Pepper
As Heather has copies of all of the Crown Lynn records, I'm hoping to photograph the ones that I don't have on Sunday to help with identification, especially the diagrams.

Maybe there's a Tai Coffee Set
The 6065 is described as "Tai Pint Jug WWorths", and the "6071 - 13 cm" is a physical match for the Tai mug. The reference to a third Tai jug was in expectation that there is one of a more suitable size for a coffee set.
I note that the photo for mrnarna's 1347 Drop Handle Coffee Pot also includes a tallish (ca 13cm milk jug), so the 6071 could feasibly be a suitable candidate for jug for my theoretical (as yet) Tai coffee set.
The photo in the auction below is a better reference for me than the gallery photo. It is a 6071. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pottery-glass/auction-705853050.htm
In addition to the mug and jugs, and the items you noted above, (as I think I may have also said elsewhere) the Titianware canisters 1178-1180, 1321 and 1322 are also a physical match, and the description for 1321 includes "[Woolworths]".
All these Titianware items (6065 excluded as it is not shown) have a banded body like many of Luke Adams' wares, but they also all have two sharply inscribed bands superimposed on that body. In addition to that, the mug and the 6071 jug (the only one shown in the gallery) share a handle.
The production dates for all these items span a few years (I think), so maybe the smaller Titianware canisters were taken as a style model for the wares Crown Lynn later produced for Woolworths.

Re: 1140 Coffee Pot - Lid 1141
Sometimes I can follow you Jeremy and other times I just plain get lost and this is one of those lost times heheheee
The jug descriptions stop at 6068 from June 1984 so I don't have a description for the 6071, but just like the canisters that you mention they usually have Titianware on the base.
Crown Lynn supplied Woolworths throughout the years with a multitude of items, though some things were exclusive to Woolworths and perhaps the Tai range is one.

Re: 1140 Coffee Pot - Lid 1141
Jeremy... you should go to the museum as I bet you will find "all sorts" of other stuff - I reckon you will be able to help heaps. The museum notes are so random and I found that you had to do a lot of "cross-referencing " to understand what the notes mean. You are good at that.
