Thats it!! Thank goodness we have Marl to look after us
Looking at the Database .....
Symphony d257
Symphony d792
Symphony d382 is in the Gallery and it's nothing like this.
Symphony Pink d24030
Symphony Cream d24050
Can't tell from that list other than it's not the Pink or Cream!!
There is a light [tan] brown one one Trademe too!

re No Name Dinner plate.. Symphony something maybe
My age is catching up, of course it is Symphony Cream I have just hauled out the 4 setting lunch set that I have, complete with original packing .
However the plate shape is different, no lip , and the design has a solid line at the edge
so does look rather different, but no excuse.
Thanks Ladies.

Re: Symphony Grey No Name dinner plate ~
Let me put Symphony Cream beside your plate Jonno ....
YoursMarl's
Just the brown ring on your one would warrant it another name .... could be different shaped plates too.... another reason as well ....?

Symphony Grey was No Name dinner plate
Hi Ev,
Thanks for putting the two designs together. I have modified the title of this topic as I agree that in spite of no pat. No. it does look quite different.
The colour used is black but only the solid edge line is black the rest of the design is in tones of black which become greys and yes the plate is different also as it has no lip.
I have already posted this but am unable to find it and need to start dinner.

re Symphony Grey was No Name dinner plate
Ok I understand the problem when there is no number & no name just a Crown
insignia but a pattern that is known. I was simply suggesting that it could be known as Symphony Grey , and no Marl it is certainly not green it is black on a cream body.
But you guys are the experts.

No experts here Jonno
We are just stumbling around in the dark trying to find answers to sooo many questions
It's like an enjoyable challenge and when we do discover something it makes it all worthwhile

Ah! but methinks you do your selves a mischief, in relative terms you are experts because of the hard yards you have put in and the way you always seem to be at hand to answer a question or make a comment or offer a lead to an answer.
That is what makes this forum so enjoyable for me.
Thank you.

re Symphony Grey was No Name dinner plate
Thanks Ev., Have asked the seller a question about name & number?
I find it quite curious how often a new design is discovered and put on the forum or TM and then you see more of the same. Wonder where they have been lurking?
The seller says that they are marked 'Genuine New Zealand Ironstone'

Re: Symphony Grey No Name dinner plate ~
This would have to be Colette Green d876 as it uses the dark Antique Green and has an outer band.
Re: Symphony Grey No Name dinner plate ~
Ev. I see on the A/musuem pattern book, in the "C" index a pattern called Colette d484, I wonder if this is the same pattern in another colour, or something completely different?

Re: Symphony Grey No Name dinner plate ~
Yes I did notice that as I am going through the Database and checking it against our Patterns Gallery [finding all sorts ] I would say it's a different colour/pattern, but there is nothing to indicate what it is. Though there are a few patterns like Colette to look at eg. the two Cherie patterns with no numbers Tan and Brown.
Janpots added :- also a Cherie Oyster d639

Colette Green - but brown version
I have posted this plate here as its similar to Colette Green but a brown version.
The 'Cherie' patterns are on the coupe plate with no outer band, this could possibly be just "Colette" but until we find solid proof into the "no name she goes"

Re: Symphony Grey No Name dinner plate ~
Now that's where searching the DS numbers would come in handy!
Is it Brown or is it Tan that is the question ?:::????
Can you work some more magic to find the answer Janice

Re: Symphony Grey No Name dinner plate ~
Ev - I feel sure that this is Colette, the brown cups would match & it has the brown line.
The only thing I can't confirm is the exact colour of the pattern as top right, does not show anything that I can relate to ( AP50/4)

Tan = 140 which seems to be the orange/tangerine colour , this plate is brown. Are you thinking Cherie pattern ( which does not have the band & colours Tan, Brown and Oyster) ?Ev wrote:Is it Brown or is it Tan that is the question ?:::????
