Jonno's possible 761 jug ..
This appears to have been handpainted and has the 1948 - 1955 backstamp, but no shape number.
I've put the Auckland Museum pic beside the jug for comparison.
Please note the spout shape ... the handle shape and position and the way the body slopes down from the spout to the handle.
Just need two more Admins to agree with me

re Jonno's possible 761 jug ..
Good Morning Ev,
Sorry I seem to have missed this when you posted it.
Yes I see what you mean but it is a bit hard to compare with the difference in size.
Do the notes mention the measurements of the two shapes from the museum?

Re: Jonno's possible 761 jug ..
I can't find any measurements Jonno, but did find that this jug was made in four sizes:
761 -0-1-2-3 .... small to large.
761 -0-1-2-3 .... small to large.
Re: Jonno's possible 761 jug ..
Found this version and it does seem to be a match.
My example is approx 130mm High X 100mm dia at broadest (excluding handle)
The shape does appear to be the same, in particular the slight reduction in diameter just below the handle noticeable in both photos.
My sample looks a little slimmer than the other but that may be because of the different angles that the photos was taken. Hard to be 100% certain without measurements.

Re: Jonno's possible 761 jug ..
Oops Jonno that photo is covered by copyrights so I will have to delete it sorry ...
Do I detect a dot on the base that may have a number before it - under the backstamp ??
The bulge below the handle looked the same.....
Anyone can find that photo on google if they want to, but we can't post it here without permission from the owner.
Heh Admins are hard to find these days

Woops! my error I should have known better thanks for being so observant.
But Yes you really are observant. Grabbed the pot and took it downstairs for a careful look and the sun came out (Hurrah) and by carefully tilting and using my loup glass voila , there it is 761. hidden under the gold backstamp. Thanks again.

Re: Jonno's possible 761 jug ..
Absolutely brilliant Jonno
There should be a dash and then a 0 or a 1, or 2, or 3 after the number ....?
I will replace the Museum pic in the Gallery with your photo now! YAY!!

Hi Ev,
I understand what you are saying but sadly because of the faint marking and the infill by glaze I am unable to see anything but the 76 and a faint 1 then a space which could have included a /# before the dot. The dot is quite clear.
The only way to see any of it is in bright sun and using a loup while angling the base to get a high reflection.
Remember also that there is a very clear V near the edge of the base which has been incised into the leather dry pot. The apex of the V points to the 7
